{"id":161675,"date":"2025-04-12T11:00:48","date_gmt":"2025-04-12T11:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/12\/if-you-have-to-watch-1-amazon-prime-video-movie-in-april-2025-stream-this-1-now\/"},"modified":"2025-04-12T11:00:48","modified_gmt":"2025-04-12T11:00:48","slug":"if-you-have-to-watch-1-amazon-prime-video-movie-in-april-2025-stream-this-1-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/12\/if-you-have-to-watch-1-amazon-prime-video-movie-in-april-2025-stream-this-1-now\/","title":{"rendered":"If You Have to Watch 1 Amazon Prime Video Movie in April 2025, Stream This 1 Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div wp_automatic_readability=\"118.12738583345\">\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ????><\/p>\n<p>In 1998, director <strong>Steven Soderbergh<\/strong> attempted to climb his \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2003\/feb\/13\/features.georgeclooney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">way out of the arthouse ghetto<\/a>\u201d with <em>Out of Sight<\/em>, a very funny crime movie based upon Elmore Leonard\u2019s 1996 novel of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>Screenwriter <strong>Scott Frank<\/strong> adapted the story for the screen and Soderbergh cast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrities\/george-clooney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>George Clooney<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrities\/jennifer-lopez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a> to lead the film early in their respective careers.<\/p>\n<p>While <em>Out of Sight<\/em> wasn\u2019t a blockbuster hit, it made quite an impression with critics and helped elevate Clooney and Lopez to greater stardom.<\/p>\n<p><em>Out of Sight<\/em> is also a pretty fantastic flick in its own right, and it\u2019s our pick for the one Amazon Prime Video movie you have to watch in April.<\/p>\n<h3>It Feels a Lot Like a Quentin Tarantino Movie<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Out of Sight (1998) - Jail Break Scene (2\/10) | Movieclips\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SZfw1S80QoQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There are no movies exactly like <strong>Quentin Tarantino<\/strong> movies, but Soderbergh comes about as close as humanly possible with <em>Out of Sight<\/em>. That may be because Tarantino himself was influenced by Leonard\u2019s novels. <em>Out of Sight<\/em> doesn\u2019t feature Tarantino\u2019s kinetic editing style or a constant string of expletives, but it\u2019s a very dialogue-and-character-driven film with a playful tone and a killer \u201870s soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>It also has a short crossover with Tarantino\u2019s <em>Jackie Brown<\/em>, which was based on Leonard\u2019s <em>Ram Punch<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrities\/michael-keaton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Michael Keaton<\/strong><\/a> briefly reprises his role as FBI agent Ray Nicolette from that 1997 film. <em>Pulp Fiction<\/em>\u2019s <strong>Ving Rhames<\/strong> has a substantial role in <em>Out of Sight<\/em>, while frequent Tarantino collaborator <strong>Samuel L. Jackson<\/strong> has a brief and memorable cameo. Many of the supporting characters also seem like they could have easily existed in a Tarantino flick. This may not be Tarantino\u2019s movie, but his influence is felt everywhere.<\/p>\n<h3>George Clooney Had a Breakthrough Performance<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Out of Sight (1998) - First Time Being Robbed? The actor looked back on his Academy Award-winning career on the CBS news show, where he insisted he was no longer interested in playing heartthrobs. \u201cLook, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It would ruin the surprise to reveal how that plan goes sideways, but fortune doesn\u2019t always favor Jack Foley (Clooney) in this story. Regardless, he\u2019s kind of a gentleman thief compared to some of the other people he runs with. Jack\u2019s no stranger to failure, but thanks to Clooney\u2019s charismatic performance, the audience wants to see him get away with his crimes.<\/p>\n<h3>Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney Have Terrific Chemistry Together<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Out of Sight (1998) -Stuck in the Trunk Scene (3\/10) | Movieclips\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pTptxpcYySI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Like Clooney, Jennifer Lopez was still relatively early in her career when she was cast as FBI agent Karen Sisco. Karen is an unconventional heroine, in part because she develops feelings for Jack while trying to capture him and his accomplices. That was only believable because Lopez and Clooney had fantastic chemistry together, especially during their scene where Karen and Jack are locked together in a car trunk.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez and Clooney\u2019s characters aren\u2019t physically present with each other more than a handful of times, but each one is memorable. Small things like a wave or even a sensuous dream build their strange attraction to one another until the appropriate climax during Karen and Jack\u2019s \u201ctime out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soderbergh does something very interesting with Karen and Jack\u2019s romantic interlude \u2014 he intercuts their initial casual meeting at a public bar with their very private and intimate time in a bedroom later, showing the outcome of their date before it ever really begins. It\u2019s a great sequence, and one of the most memorable parts of the movie.<\/p>\n<h3>Even the Minor Characters Are Interesting To Watch<\/h3>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Out of Sight (1998) - Opening the Safe Scene (9\/10) | Movieclips\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p5lEvn7ejJI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Out of Sight<\/em> is impeccably cast with established performers and actors who became famous later, including <strong>Viola Davis<\/strong> in a small role as Moselle Miller. The truly impressive part of juggling such a large group of supporting players is that they all seem to get their due. Ving Rhames is one of the most down-to-earth guys in the story as Jack\u2019s partner in crime, Buddy Bragg. Karen has her own confidant in her father, Marshall Sisco (<strong>Dennis Farina<\/strong>). Karen and her dad don\u2019t get a lot of time together, but Farina brought a lot of heart to the part.<\/p>\n<div id=\"news-block\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form  \" wp_automatic_readability=\"8.5\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-signup__success\" aria-live=\"polite\" wp_automatic_readability=\"7\">\n<h3>Thank You!<\/h3>\n<p>You have successfully subscribed.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>A very young <strong>Don Cheadle<\/strong> has the film\u2019s most menacing turn as Maurice \u201cSnoopy\u201d Miller, a violent drug dealer and thief who really doesn\u2019t see eye-to-eye with Jack. He\u2019s the closest thing this story has to a true villain, followed closely by his associate Kenneth (Isaiah Washington). The film also has strong performances by the rest of the supporting cast, including <strong>Steve Zahn<\/strong>, <strong>Luis Guzm\u00e1n<\/strong>, Albert Brooks and<strong> Nancy Allen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly three decades later, <em>Out of Sight<\/em> holds up remarkably well thanks to the actors and the team behind the camera.
