Minka Kelly<\/strong><\/a> has been open about her dream of becoming a mom, and now she\u2019s going all-out to make that a reality with her globally famous boyfriend, Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds<\/strong>, a source exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a matter of fact among Minka\u2019s group of longtime friends in L.A. that she knows she waited a little too long to become a mom, but her relationship with Dan is on solid ground, and that\u2019s who she wants to settle down with,\u201d the insider says. \u201cThey have taken their time as a couple, and unlike a lot of Minka\u2019s other relationships, there\u2019s a real trust that has built up there, and a mutual desire to start a family, too.\u201d<\/p>\n The source adds that Minka, 44, who is the only child of former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay<\/strong> and Maureen Dumont Kelly, \u201ccomes from something of a rock \u2018n\u2019 roll family, and her father had a long, high-profile musical career.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMinka knows that lifestyle. She knows the challenges that go along with it, and as she and Dan take this next step together, she\u2019s looking toward the future with her eyes wide open,\u201d the insider continues. \u201cDan is a very positive, upbeat guy and he\u2019s going to make a great dad, but Minka has spent a couple of decades waiting to get to this stage in her life, and she can\u2019t wait to finally become a mom!\u201d<\/p>\n Minka and Dan, 37, began dating in 2022<\/a>. Prior to that, Dan was married to ex-wife Aja Volkman<\/strong>, with whom he shares kids Arrow, 12, twins Coco and Gia, 7, and son Valentine, 5. Meanwhile, years before she began dating the musician, Minka was in a \u201ctoxic relationship,\u201d as she described it in her 2023 memoir Tell Me Everything<\/em>, with her former Friday Night Lights<\/em> costar Taylor Kitsch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In her memoir, Minka also wrote about her desire to become a mother someday, citing her \u201ccolorful and chaotic, unstable and inconsistent, unpredictable and hard\u201d childhood.<\/p>\n \u201cI spent a lot of my youth wishing my mom was something she wasn\u2019t, wishing she was like the other moms,\u201d she wrote of the late Maureen, who worked as an exotic dancer in L.A. and often took her daughter to work with her. \u201cI only was able to really appreciate how special she was when I got much older. In fact, when it was maybe a little too late.\u201d<\/p>\n Though Minka said that marriage isn\u2019t a must for her, she added, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say no, but I don\u2019t have a blueprint of it really working out.\u201d However, the author \u201cwould still love to be a mom.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTo have my own kids would be a wonderful gift if the time comes,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n In the meantime, Dan\u2019s children have bonded with Minka, according to the singer.<\/p>\n \u201cThe kids really love Minka and really love their mom, and that\u2019s OK,\u201d Dan told People<\/em><\/a> in July 2024. \u201cWe view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help. We\u2019ve just been really careful with that and slow with navigating how to bring Minka in to that conversation.
