Eric Dane<\/strong> shocked fans when he announced he had been diagnosed with ALS. In light of his diagnosis, many people were left wondering if he will appear in the upcoming season 3 of Euphoria<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n The Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> alum confirmed that he will reprise his role of Cal Jacobs in season 3 of Euphoria<\/em>. He is set to start filming just four days after he publicly announced his ALS diagnosis, People<\/em><\/a> confirmed on April 10, 2025.<\/p>\n Eric revealed that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS, on April 10, 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cI have been diagnosed with ALS. I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,\u201d he said in a statement to People<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cI feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria<\/em> next week.\u201d<\/p>\n Eric continued, \u201cI kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n ALS is \u201ca nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time,\u201d according to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. \u201cThe exact cause of the disease is still not known. A small number of cases are inherited.\u201d<\/p>\n Cal was arrested in the season 2 finale<\/a> after his son, Nate (played by Jacob Elordi<\/strong>), turned him in to the police for his past crimes. Nate made the decision to get police involved after he and his father had a tense confrontation, in which Cal was forced to face his mistakes as a father.<\/p>\n After the finale aired in February 2022, Eric confirmed he would be back for season 3<\/a> and teased what fans could expect in the new season.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s gonna be redemption,\u201d he told Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI mean, that\u2019s the trajectory he\u2019s on. I can\u2019t imagine Cal\u2019s life from solitary confinement. It\u2019s tough to work Cal into the storyline when he\u2019s behind bars.\u201d<\/p>\n Eric also expressed hope that Cal and Nate can improve their relationship following the tense argument in upcoming episodes.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that\u2019s, in a weird way, what was happening in that scene. When I said what I said in the foyer, you notice Nate didn\u2019t say anything. He got a real chance to express himself with how he felt, even with the gun,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cThe gun was his kind of way of saying, \u2018I f\u2013king hate you, Dad, for what you did to me.\u2019 He even says, \u2018I\u2019ve always protected you and you f\u2013king hated me for it.\u2019 Because Cal felt like a piece of s\u2013t.
