Eric Dane<\/strong><\/a> has been diagnosed with ALS.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been diagnosed with ALS,\u201d the Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> alum<\/a>, 52, said in a statement to People<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, April 10. \u201cI am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dane shares daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, with wife Rebecca Gayheart<\/strong>. In addition to expressing his gratitude for his loved ones, Dane also shared his appreciation for his work on Euphoria<\/em>, which will start filming for season three<\/a> following its extended hiatus.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria<\/em> next week,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cI kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRebecca Gayheart has had a change of heart in regards to her divorce from Eric Dane. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Gayheart, 53, requested a dismissal on Wednesday, March 5, of the divorce petition she initially filed. In February 2018, the actress filed for divorce from Dane, 52, after 14 years of [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The condition, which is also referred to as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease, is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, per the Mayo Clinic<\/a>. It causes loss of muscle control and gets worse over time. There is no cure.<\/p>\n

The news of Dane\u2019s condition comes nearly one month after Gayheart, 53, filed to dismiss her divorce<\/a> from the actor. Dane and Gayheart tied the knot in 2004. In 2018, Gayheart filed for divorce from Dane after 14 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.<\/p>\n

While Gayheart and Dane did not reach a divorce settlement within that seven-year span, the pair have put their main focus on being amicable coparents for their kids.<\/p>\n
