After The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> season 3 finale aired, fans picked up on how Walton Goggins<\/strong> seemingly distanced himself from costar Aimee Lou Wood<\/strong><\/a>. Life & Style<\/em> takes a look at how their former friendship may have deteriorated amid viewer theories about a feud.\n<\/p>\n The duo, who played couple Rick Hatchett and his girlfriend, Chelsea, appeared to still be close as season 3 aired on Max from February through April 2025.<\/p>\n The pair followed each other on Instagram and left complimentary comments on one another\u2019s posts.<\/p>\n However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that after the season 3 finale aired on April 6, 2025, showing the doomed couple\u2019s fate, Walton stopped following Aimee Lou. Some speculated he may have blocked her, as her comments disappeared from his posts.<\/p>\n After the finale episode aired revealing that Rick\u2019s actions caused Chelsea to get shot and killed<\/a>, and he was subsequently shot and died while carrying her in his arms, Walton took to Instagram to mourn their onscreen fate. It was apparent that the actor took their storyline and how they portrayed it quite seriously.<\/p>\n Along with a series of selfies<\/a> alongside Aimee Lou during outings in Thailand while filming White Lotus<\/em> and behind the scenes shots from their happy reunion in the finale, Walton wrote, \u201cRick + Chelsea. With the heaviest of hearts \u2026 To me, ours was a love story. It was only ever a love story, hindered by unresolved, childhood trauma. We all have them \u2026 but can we move past them. In the depths of our despair there is always beauty around us.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf we can sit with our pain, just sit with it \u2026 not react \u2026 not be defined by it \u2026 It\u2019s there \u2026 the love the world is constantly giving in any given moment is there. Walton shared an Instagram Story showing that he viewed it alongside costar Michelle Monaghan<\/strong>, who played Jaclyn Lemon on season 3.<\/p>\n The England native told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> that she was disappointed that she was unable to watch the finale alongside the Justified<\/em> alum, but hinted that it was typical of their characters\u2019 relationship on the series.<\/p>\n \u201cI was sad that Walton wasn\u2019t there because it was something that we did together but also it\u2019s so f\u2013king Rick and Chelsea,\u201d Aimee shared with the outlet on April 7, 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cLike, of course Walton had to watch it alone and of course I had to watch it in the group because there is so much Aimee in Chelsea and so much Walton in Rick,\u201d Aimee added, apparently unaware that her costar watched it with Michelle.<\/p>\n During episode 3 of The White Lotus<\/em>\u2018 companion podcast<\/a>, Walton described how he isolated himself<\/a> and dug into his personal pain to play Rick during the six-month shoot in Thailand.<\/p>\n \u201cShowing up to work every day with 18 people and a green room that\u2019s full of chairs of 18 people that are in a much different place emotionally than I am at the beginning of the story was very difficult. More often than not, my chair is separate. I sit on my own. I do my own thing,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I just couldn\u2019t, I couldn\u2019t be around them. They didn\u2019t understand why I was there. This guy is isolated \u2026 And that wasn\u2019t any fun, you know, to separate yourself from a group in that way. That was really, really challenging,\u201d Walton continued.<\/p>\n The Righteous Gemstones<\/em> star recalled a day of filming the show\u2019s opening scene on a boat headed to the White Lotus resort, where his behavior pushed Aimee away into wanting to hang out with other costars.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were all on this boat, and I just had such anxiety about getting on this boat because there\u2019s nowhere for me to hide. I\u2019m a claustrophobic person by nature, and Rick is a claustrophobic person \u2026 And so, I just camped out on the front of this boat. The view was incredible, and I just filled it full of negative energy, so that no one wanted to be around me, right? And there was a moment, like, for real, it\u2019s like just buckets of f\u2013king negativity. Here you go. Like, no one will come up here,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n \u201cBut at one point, Aimee, not being mean or anything, she leaned over and just said, \u2018You know, you\u2019re no fun. I want to be with them,\u2019 you know, meaning Patrick<\/strong> [Schwarzenegger<\/strong>] and the other characters, and I was like, \u2018Thank you, God. Thank you for saying that, you know, because that\u2019s exactly how I want you to feel.’\u201d<\/p>\n Aimee told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that she was happy to be free of Chelsea after the finale aired, and believes Walton felt the same way about Rick.<\/p>\n \u201cI think both of us are feeling a similar thing today of, \u2018OK I can let go of the parts of this character, of Chelsea, that have been holding me back and I can grow up in the way that Chelsea couldn\u2019t.\u2019 And at the same time, all the bits that I love about her, I can take with me,\u201d the Sex Education<\/em> alum told the publication.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, there\u2019s this weird feeling today of rebirth, and I\u2019m sure that Walton feels the same about Rick because it\u2019s like, whatever the f\u2013k was going on in him, that was Rick, and he can let go of it now. Like Chelsea says, \u2018You\u2019re free. It\u2019s a new day.\u2019 And it\u2019s true.
