UPDATE \u2014 4\/8\/25 at 6:05 p.m. ET<\/strong>: Chiefs\u2019 wide receiver Xavier Worthy<\/strong> and ex Tia Jones<\/strong>\u2019 legal battle has come to an end.<\/p>\n

TMZ reported<\/a> on Tuesday, April 8, that Worthy and Jones have reached a legal agreement. The pair have subsequently dropped cases against one another.<\/p>\n

\u201cI regret any misunderstandings or conflicts that arose during my relationship with my ex-fianc\u00e9e,\u201d Worthy said in a statement per the outlet. \u201cI also acknowledge that my legal representatives may have made public statements about my ex-fianc\u00e9e that were intended to protect me, but were misstated. Ending a relationship that spanned over a year can be an emotional experience, and sometimes words are spoken out of hurt and frustration. This matter has now been settled.\u201d<\/p>\n

T<\/span>he woman who accused Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy<\/strong> of assault has been granted a temporary restraining order against the football star.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attorneys for Tia Jones<\/strong>, a track and field athlete who was previously engaged to Worthy, 21, confirmed the order to The Associated Press<\/i><\/a> on Wednesday, March 12.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Jones has chosen to use her voice to speak up for herself,\u201d Angelica Cogliano<\/strong>, one of Jones\u2019 legal representatives, told the AP<\/i>. \u201cIn doing so, she looks forward to the facts and circumstances of that night coming to light through the formal legal process, and getting the justice that she deserves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The attorneys added that Jones is \u201cfully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue to actively investigate the violence that occurred.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Worthy\u2019s attorneys, Chip Lewis<\/strong> and Sam Bassett<\/strong>, responded in a statement to NBC\u2019s Pro Football Talk<\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware of the civil court (not criminal court) filing by Ms. Jones and her criminal defense team,\u201d they said. \u201cMr. Worthy denies each of the allegations by Ms. Jones. Unfortunately, false allegations continue to be made, this time in civil court. Today the accuser returned items stolen from Mr. Worthy\u2019s residence while he was in jail and there are items still missing from when he was incarcerated. Mr. Worthy maintains his innocence and stands by the conclusions of the District Attorney after law enforcement\u2019s review of Ms. Jones\u2019 unfounded allegations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Worthy was arrested on Friday, March 7,<\/a> and held in jail on a charge of choking a family member. The following day, the District Attorney in Texas\u2019 Williamston County\u00a0 announced his office would not be accepting the case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAfter further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff\u2019s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff\u2019s Office,\u201d District Attorney Shawn Dick<\/strong> said in an email. \u201cMr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The note continued, \u201cWe will continue to evaluate the case. As is our practice with all declines, should you develop additional information indicative of probable cause in this case, our office will consider that information and may present the case at that time to a Williamson County Grand Jury.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
