Genesis<\/a>, reacted to watching her in the film, telling them: \u201cShe kept saying, \u2018Oh my goodness. Mom, Mom, you\u2019re golden, mama. You\u2019re golden!\u2019<\/p>\n\u201cShe cried. She laughed. <\/p>\n
\u201cI loved being the hero to my teenage daughter. Because usually in these teenage years, you just disappear. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThey become zombies, and you become anything other than a hero.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cHer sitting there watching me like that… it just, yeah. It was everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nViola has Genesis with her husband Julius Tennon, 70. <\/p>\n
\nThe couple adopted their daughter in 2011, a year after her birth. <\/p>\n
\nViola, who has earned acclaim across stage and screen, is known for her award-winning performances in \u2018Fences\u2019, \u2018The Woman King\u2019 and \u2018How to Get Away with Murder\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nShe is one of a select group of performers to achieve EGOT status \u2014 having won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.<\/p>\n
\nDespite the accolades, Viola has said parenthood gave her a deeper sense of purpose. <\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to People in 2017, she said: \u201cIt was great, but it was not fulfilling. I wanted my life to mean and be something deeper. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThat\u2019s when the urge came, and the urge was just very, very, very strong. So I have a kid now, and she is just the light of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nViola added while she is not \u201cthe brownie-making mother,\u201d she prioritises emotional support and creativity in parenting. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI encourage her to use any source of expression, whether it\u2019s TikTok, painting, taking pictures,\u201d she told People in 2020. <\/p>\n
\nShe added: \u201cI said, \u2018Anything about yourself, even the things that you don\u2019t think people will love about you, all of it makes up your beauty.\u2019 I don\u2019t want her to grow up with any shame.\u201d<\/p>\n
