Comedian Eric Andr\u00e9<\/strong> is reflecting on the near-misses of his career, which allegedly include a starring role in A Real Pain<\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to know a f***ing doozy? Two years ago, Jesse Eisenberg<\/strong> calls me and offered me the role that Kieran Culkin<\/strong><\/a> got the Oscar for,\u201d Andr\u00e9, 42, claimed on the Friday, April 4, episode<\/a> of the \u201cWhiskey Ginger\u201d podcast. \u201cI read the script. I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I want to go to Poland.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9, who said that his Jewish ancestors all came from Poland and \u201cgot cooked in the concentration camps,\u201d further explained why he wasn\u2019t interested in acting in Eisenberg\u2019s directorial debut. (Eisenberg, 41, wrote, directed and starred in the drama that follows two cousins as they rediscover their Jewish roots on a trip to Poland.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018That seems really miserable and not my lane,\u2019\u201d Andr\u00e9 recalled. \u201cI read the script and was like, \u2018To go to Poland for six weeks and shoot a movie, where we\u2019re just babbling about the Holocaust seems like a bummer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKieran Culkin\u2019s untraditional way of preparing for dialogue in his roles managed to blow away his A Real Pain costar Jesse Eisenberg. \u201cKieran wouldn\u2019t learn the lines until the morning we were shooting \u2014 and you saw the movie \u2014 you saw he has, like, monologue after monologue,\u201d Eisenberg, 41, said during a Thursday, December [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued, \u201cI was like, \u2018I appreciate the offer, I\u2019m sure it\u2019s going to be great \u2026 [but] I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what I\u2019m looking for right now.\u2019 The motherf***er won an Oscar for the role I passed on. It\u2019s not, like, I get offered roles constantly. I\u2019m not f***ing Leonardo DiCaprio. Once in a while, I get offered a role and I said no to one of the only times I was offered a role [and] then it turned into an Academy Award.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eisenberg has not publicly addressed Andr\u00e9\u2019s claims. Us Weekly<\/i> has reached out to Eisenberg for comment A Real Pain <\/i>was up for Best Screenplay at the 2025 Oscars, though it ultimately lost to Anora<\/i>. Culkin, 42, won Best Actor in a Supporting Role<\/a> during the ceremony last month.<\/p>\n
