The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> has always featured eccentric characters, but season 3 star Aimee Lou Wood<\/strong><\/a> said that several of the cast members \u201clost their marbles\u201d while shooting the series. The actress admitted that after spending seven months filming in Thailand<\/a>, the experience began to take a toll.<\/p>\n \u201cThe thing that I craved the most was a kitchen,\u201d Aimee, 31, told The Sunday Times<\/em><\/a> in an article published on April 5. \u201cI wanted to be able to walk to the shops and buy groceries and make food. My self-esteem wasn\u2019t great because I wasn\u2019t being a normal person. I wasn\u2019t doing my own washing, folding my clothes. I started to feel like I was in The Sims.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n To make matters more complex, the Sex Education<\/em> alum said that their on-screen personas began to merge with their real-life personalities. Aimee explained that at times the cast would realize they had just \u201cregurgitated a character\u2019s speech.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a bit of leakage. We were all accidentally Method,\u201d Aimee shared with the publication. \u201cSometimes I feel like I can experience more of a range of emotions as a character in someone else\u2019s story than as myself.\u201d<\/p>\n The Stockport, Greater Manchester, native also admitted that after starring in Sex Education<\/em>, which involved nudity, she remembered \u201cfeeling quite vulnerable,\u201d but the experience with some of her female costars<\/a> on the set of The White Lotus<\/em> season 3 was much different.<\/p>\n \u201cDown to Carrie<\/strong> [Coon<\/strong>] saying, \u2018No, I\u2019m getting mine out.\u2019 When she goes topless in the pool, that is such a moment<\/a> for [her character] Laurie,\u201d Aimee said. \u201cWe were having these really helpful chats so I felt less alone, to the point where, when I knew the episode was coming out that had my sex scene in, I didn\u2019t even think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Much like previous White Lotus<\/em> stars Theo James<\/strong> and Leo Woodall<\/strong>, Mike White\u2019s<\/strong> hit series has elevated Aimee\u2019s level of fame. She confessed that she was a \u201csuperfan\u201d of the show and even purposefully searched out the audition. However, the stardom has been a bit overwhelming at times.<\/p>\n \u201cI have resistance to the buzz. I\u2019ll stay at home and I won\u2019t go to the party because I\u2019m scared that I can\u2019t handle my feelings of being overwhelmed,\u201d Aimee noted. \u201cNow that I\u2019ve started to let it in a bit more, it\u2019s like a bender: just do the thing, accept the tiredness, have fun and then process it later. It is a little bit of a British thing: we\u2019re all embarrassed about saying, \u2018This is a moment in my life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Aimee\u2019s character, Chelsea, quickly became a fan favorite with her sunny personality and ability to see the good in almost everyone, and those traits were things that Aimee connected with on a deeper level. Mike, 54, described the character as \u201cthe warmest\u201d person to grace The White Lotus<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s not cool, she\u2019s not poised, she\u2019s not posing like the others. She\u2019s just experiencing. So I can just unmask in a weird way. I actually felt more myself as Chelsea because she was the goofy, nerdy side of me that sometimes I try to suppress,\u201d Aimee went on. \u201cMike was really great at saying, \u2018Don\u2019t be afraid to be unlike everyone else. Unleash the freak!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
