The newest Sheriff Country<\/em> crossover on Fire Country<\/em><\/a> featured some nods to Max Thieriot<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s days on Bates Motel<\/em>, but did you catch every Easter egg?<\/p>\n

During the Friday, April 4, episode, Thieriot\u2019s character Bode found himself helping Sharon\u2019s (Diane Farr<\/strong>) stepfather, Wes (W. Earl Brown<\/strong>), at his off-the-grid marijuana property. The story line felt very reminiscent of Dylan\u2019s days guarding marijuana plants on Bates Motel<\/em>, which was intentional<\/a> on Thieriot\u2019s part.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to go one level deeper here. Mickey\u2019s dad [on Sheriff Country<\/em>] is who we bought the motel from [on Bates Motel<\/em>]. W. Earl Brown is the one who owned the motel that Norma and Norman purchased and that set off the whole thing in the beginning. It\u2019s crazy,\u201d Thieriot, 36, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cThe big thing for us is the show is centered in northern California and it is a version of a humble town and marijuana is really the industry \u2014 and has been for a long time. So we\u2019re back to it. We\u2019re back to some of those Bates Motel ways again.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also the fact that Thieriot\u2019s former costar Freddie Highmore<\/strong> is directing an upcoming episode of Fire Country<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBates Motel came to an end but the show\u2019s stars, including Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot and Olivia Cooke, have remained on our screens. The A&E series, which ran from 2013 to 2017, worked as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock\u2018s 1960 film Psycho. Based on Robert Bloch\u2018s 1959 novel of the same name, both the show [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe directed episode 18 [of season 3], which was really exciting for the two of us. Freddie and I are really like brothers in real life. Since we finished Bates Motel,<\/em> I have been in Los Angeles and he was in Vancouver the whole time doing The Good Doctor.<\/em> But we miss getting to work together,\u201d Thieriot noted. \u201cAlthough this was different, it was just fun to get to come together and work on something. Freddie directed when I was on Bates Motel<\/em> as well but I hadn\u2019t worked with him as a director since then.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cFreddie is maybe the smartest person that I know. He is really talented and can do anything and everything. He approaches everything from a different way than most other people do \u2014 just because of how cerebral he is. But maybe one day he\u2019ll appear on screen. I know the two of us really want to work together on camera again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before becoming the star and executive producer<\/a> on Fire Country<\/em>, Thieriot was a fan favorite on Bates Motel<\/em>. The A&E series, which ran from 2013 to 2017, worked as a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock<\/strong>\u2018s 1960 film Psycho<\/em>, which introduced Norman Bates (Highmore) as a teenager making a move with his mother, Norma (Vera Farmiga<\/strong>), but his deteriorating mental health causes complications.<\/p>\n

Bates Motel<\/em> expanded on the world of Psycho<\/em> by introducing new characters such as Norman\u2019s half-brother, Dylan, his best friend Emma (Olivia Cooke<\/strong>) and a love interest for Norma a.k.a Sheriff Alex Romero (N\u00e9stor Carbonell<\/strong>). Thieriot also appeared on SEAL Team<\/em> before introducing Us<\/em> to the world of Fire Country<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSergei Bachlakov\/CBS The Fire Country world is growing after CBS picked up spinoff series Sheriff Country. Fire Country, which premiered in 2022, follows inmate Bode (Max Thieriot) as he gets a chance to shorten his prison sentence by volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program. Bode gets assigned to his hometown, where he reconnects with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been really, really fortunate over the years to not only have worked with really incredible actors but also some really just straight up wonderful people,\u201d Thieriot gushed. \u201cI would love to be able to work with them again. There\u2019s at least one or two people on the last two shows that I\u2019ve done that I would love to get over here somehow in some capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n
