Narcos: Mexico<\/em> star Manuel Masalva<\/strong> has been placed in a coma after contracting a bacterial infection.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brother is fighting for his life far away from home,\u201d Masalva\u2019s friend Mario Mor\u00e1n<\/strong> said in Spanish in a TikTok video<\/a> uploaded on Thursday, April 3, adding that the actor, 43, is \u201cone of my best friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mor\u00e1n, 32, explained that Masalva \u201cfell victim to a very aggressive virus\u201d while on vacation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis led him to an induced coma<\/a>. As of today, his situation remains delicate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mor\u00e1n also shared a GoFundMe link<\/a> raising money for Masalva\u2019s unexpected hospital costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe medical costs are enormous and in a country where everything is more difficult, any help, no matter how small, can make the difference in this very difficult moment,\u201d Mor\u00e1n said in the clip. \u201cIf you can contribute, we thank you with our entire hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the GoFundMe page, which was created on Tuesday, April 1, Masalva contracted an \u201cunknown bacteria\u201d while abroad and was in \u201cserious condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

An update on Masalva\u2019s condition was shared via the page on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cManu remains in critical condition; the bacteria has already been detected,\u201d the post which was written in Spanish read. \u201cHe\u2019s on antibiotics, and we\u2019re waiting for him to begin to improve.\u201d<\/p>\n

The page also shared that Masalva\u2019s family was grateful for the donations received so far. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe total has reached more than 1 million Mexican Pesos (which is around $49,000 USD) from more than 800 donations. The page\u2019s goal was to achieve $1 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany thanks to everyone who has donated so far; your generosity and support are crucial during this difficult time for Manuel and his loved ones,\u201d the message read. \u201cWe deeply appreciate the generosity of acquaintances, friends, and family.\u201d<\/p>\n
