However, there was a time when the music producer, 37, wasn\u2019t so sure the pop star, 32, liked him. \u201cI thought she hated me,\u201d Benny dished during a joint appearance on <\/span>Jay Shetty<\/b>\u2019s podcast. After over a year of dating, the couple announced their engagement in December 2024, but the proposal, much like their relationship, nearly didn\u2019t happen. The plan was for Benny to pop the question at what Selena thought was a shoot for their new album, <\/span>I Said I Love You First<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 \u201cShe almost didn\u2019t even come,\u201d he revealed on <\/span>The Tonight Show<\/span><\/i>. \u201cShe was just upset with me because the day before, I was making bad lies\u201d to hide the surprise. Fortunately, the singer did show up \u2014 to what turned out to be a Taco Bell picnic for two \u2014 and she, of course, said yes.<\/p>\n
