Mark-Paul Gosselaar<\/strong><\/a> and Shanola Hampton<\/strong><\/a> were very surprised by Found<\/em> fans rooting for a Sir and Gabi romance \u2014 especially since they were never trying to sell the controversial relationship as an option on the show.<\/p>\n During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>, Gosselaar, 51, addressed the scene-stealing chemistry between him and Hampton, 47, saying, \u201cWell, it\u2019s not something we ever work on, It just happened organically. It\u2019s always been that way.\u201d<\/p>\n Gosselaar noted that he and Hampton<\/a> \u201cjust got lucky\u201d as costars. \u201cSometimes you don\u2019t need to like the person in real life for there to be chemistry on the screen. That\u2019s not our case. We really enjoy each other\u2019s company and I consider [Shanola] a really good friend. So that just bleeds through the lines that are all there,\u201d he explained. \u201cAs you said, it\u2019s written this way. So when I\u2019m saying these lines, I just have to understand Sir\u2019s deep affection for Gabi \u2014 and his love for her.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite an emotional connection, Gosselaar clarified \u201cthere\u2019s nothing sexual about<\/a>\u201d Sir\u2019s interest in Gabi.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just that when he sees her, she brightens him. She\u2019s just a part that he needs and that he wants. It helps that Shanola is a really good person and she\u2019s a really fine actor,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut as actors, we should be able to have that chemistry with anyone. Maybe when you see us actually together off set, [you see] we really enjoy each other and maybe people confuse that with [our characters on screen]. It just bleeds on the screen. But I think Shanola is a good enough actor that she could find that chemistry with almost anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Found<\/em>, which premiered in 2023, follows public relations specialist and crisis manager Gabi Mosely (Hampton) and her team of associates as they work to find missing people who have been ignored or forgotten by law enforcement.<\/p>\n While Found<\/em> primarily focuses on the cases themselves, it also centers around Gabi and Sir\u2019s relationship<\/a>. The NBC series introduced their dynamic with Gabi kidnapping Sir in the present timeline \u2014 as viewers learned from flashbacks about how Sir kidnapped Gabi when she was a teenager.<\/p>\n \u201cYou could look at it in another way and go, \u2018It\u2019s really disgusting and disturbing how committed he is to this individual.\u2019 There\u2019s two sides to it,\u201d Gosselaar argued about his character\u2019s twisted intentions. \u201cThat\u2019s the challenge that I think our writers have and I have every week when I get the dialogue is how to play it so that it isn\u2019t one-sided. I think our show is very multifaceted and that\u2019s what makes it interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n Just because Gosselaar plays Sir doesn\u2019t mean he agrees with his actions. That is why the actor has gotten even more surprised seeing the \u201cTeam Sir\u201d fan support<\/a> on social media.<\/p>\n
