Patreon<\/a>, a subscription platform for online creators, has signed podcasting partnerships with Sony Music Entertainment and Amazon\u2019s Wondery, the company announced<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Patreon says the partnerships are designed to make the site a home to fan engagement and exclusive perks for shows from major podcast networks, as the company looks to expand beyond its current base of podcasts.<\/p>\n The deal means that Patreon will now offer some of the podcasting industry\u2019s big names on its platform. The addition of bigger partners will allow Patreon to stand out among other platforms that also support podcasts. As for Sony and Wondery, the partnership allows them to bring their content to more people to expand the reach of their podcasts.<\/p>\n As a result of the partnerships, select podcasts from Sony Music and Wondery will be available on Patreon, including: \u201cGetting Better with Jonathan Van Ness,\u201d \u201cLipstick on the Rim,\u201d and \u201cThis Is History\u201d from Sony Music; and \u201cScamfluencers,\u201d \u201cKiller Psyche,\u201d and \u201cKurt Kr\u00f6mer \u2013 Feelings\u201d from Wondery.<\/p>\n Patreon said podcasters on its platform earned more than $472 million from over 6.7 million paid memberships last year, making podcasting the single highest-earning category of creativity on the platform.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom independent shows to networks, podcasters are choosing Patreon because it\u2019s a place where they can share their work directly with their audiences, reach new fans, deepen connections with existing members, manage their businesses, and ultimately earn more money \u2013 all under one roof,\u201d the company wrote in a blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n Patreon plans to add more podcasting partners in the future, it says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
