The actor, 58, played bumbling Ross Geller on the sitcom, and despite its opening track being loved by fans he has now revealed how he once couldn\u2019t stand it.<\/p>\n

He said during a recent appearance on the \u2018Making a Scene\u2019 podcast with Matt Lucas and David Walliams<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019ll be really honest \u2013 there was a time for quite a while that just hearing the theme song would really uggh.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added his aversion to the tune was hearing it on repeat, with David hearing The Rembrandts\u2019 \u2018\u2018I\u2019ll Be There for You\u2019 so many times it left him feeling miserable.<\/p>\n

The actor also explained that his distaste for the song developed during a period when he was grappling with the overwhelming fame that followed \u2018Friends\u2019 massive success. <\/p>\n

\nDavid, who appeared in all 10 seasons of the show, said he could pinpoint the moment his anonymity slipped away. <\/p>\n

\nHe said: \u201cJim Burroughs (the \u2018Friends\u2019 director) took the cast to Vegas\u2026 this was before we were on the air. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe were walking through the casino at one point, and he said, \u2018Remember this moment, it\u2019s the last time you\u2019re going to be able to walk through a casino like this.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

\nFor David, that moment of clarity came just a few months later when the fame hit him full force. <\/p>\n

\nHe said: \u201cThe moment that I realised Jim Burroughs was right, I was at LAX\u2026 so I\u2019m going through\u2026 I hear a blood-curdling scream. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI was genuinely frightened. I thought someone was being stabbed or something. And a group of girls come and like \u2013 like literally just scream and grab me. And they won\u2019t let me go.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDespite his initial discomfort with his fame and the constant reminders of the show, David\u2019s feelings toward Friends have softened in recent years \u2013 thanks, in part, to his daughter.<\/p>\n

\nHe added: \u201cI never watched the show after we finished it. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cThen my kid discovered it around age nine or something, and started watching it. And I\u2019d be making breakfast or whatever, and I\u2019d hear my kid\u2019s laughter. My whole relationship to that song and to the show changed again.\u201d<\/p>\n
