Rose Abdoo<\/strong> is just as excited about season 4 of Hacks<\/em><\/a> as even the most ardent superfan.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively at PaleyFest LA, Abdoo, 62, gave fans a peek into what to expect when the new season premieres<\/a>. According to Abdoo, the season will show a deepening relationship between the show\u2019s main character, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart<\/strong>), and her estate manager, Josefina (Abdoo).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis season, you can see how worried Josefina is for Deborah because Deborah has a ton of pressure and is trying to be very controlling. And Josefina is also controlling,\u201d Abdoo said. \u201cShe\u2019s not just my boss. They really, really love her. Josefina loves Deborah and wants the best for her and worries about her health all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The worry that Abdoo adds to the character comes from a familiar place.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere was some stiff competition in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category at the 2024 Emmy Awards. Jean Smart ultimately won the award for Hacks during the Sunday, September 15, ceremony, which was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. \u201cThank you so, so much,\u201d Smart, 73, said after receiving a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the one thing that I did, based the character loosely on my mother,\u201d she continued. \u201cThere\u2019s aspects of my own mother in it that is that she can just look at her and go, \u2018You don\u2019t feel good. And you are not drinking enough water.\u2019 She knows things about her.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all Abdoo would share about the upcoming season \u2014 she couldn\u2019t expand even if she wanted to.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the truth, is that not only do I not want to give spoilers, but I genuinely don\u2019t remember,\u201d she admitted. \u201cAnd then when I watch it at home, I watch it like a fan \u2026 I was as excited as a fan. I am the super fan of this show, truly. And to work on a show where I\u2019m also a fan of the show is just a dream come true. Truly. It really is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith-Cameron is hopeful that she\u2019ll return to Hacks as Kathy Vance should the opportunity arise. \u201cIt was a dream come true,\u201d Smith-Cameron, 66, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, June 4, while promoting her partnership with Jif for its Jif Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavored Spread campaign. \u201cI had been a fan of the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Season 3 of Hacks<\/em> ended with Deborah offering \u2014 and then revoking the offer \u2014 to be head writer to Ava on her new late-night show. Ava then blackmails Deborah, telling her that if she does not give her the role, then she would disclose that Deborah slept with the network\u2019s owner shortly before it was announced that she got the late-night gig.<\/p>\n

The move is one Deborah herself might have made if she was in the same position and, as Abdoo said, Smart is exactly the actress she would want to see react to that betrayal.<\/p>\n
