Rihanna will voice Smurfette in \u2018The Smurfs Movie.\u2019<\/p>\n
The \u2018Diamonds\u2019 hitmaker \u2013 who is pregnant with her and A$AP Rocky\u2019s second child \u2013 made a surprise appearance during Paramount Pictures\u2019 CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Thursday (27.04.23) to reveal she will be playing \u201ca little blue bad a**\u201d in the comedic musical adventure, which will be released in February 2025.<\/p>\n
She joked: \u201cI tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn\u2019t work out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rihanna will also produce the film \u2013 which is being directed by Chris Miller and Matt Landon \u2013 and is providing original songs.<\/p>\n
Other producers include Ryan Harris, Laurence \u2018Jay\u2019 Brown, and Tyran \u2018Ty-Ty\u2019 Smith, while Pam Brady has written a script inspired by the characters and works of Peyo.<\/p>\n
Fellow pop star Katy Perry previously voiced Smurfette in 2011\u2019s \u2018The Smurfs\u2019 and the 2013 follow-up \u2018The Smurfs 2\u2019, while another singer, Demi Lovato, took over the role in 2017\u2019s \u2018Smurfs: The Lost Village\u2019.<\/p>\n
The three recent movies were made by Sony, but the upcoming film will be the first in the franchise for Paramount Pictures.<\/p>\n
Rihanna previously showed off her voice talents in \u2018Home\u2019 and has acted in the likes of \u2018Ocean\u2019s 8\u2019 and \u2018Battleship\u2019, and she previously admitted she\u2019s like to win an Oscar one day.<\/p>\n
