\nThe 55-year-old music mogul, who is awaiting trail on charges including sex trafficking, had been sued in the Southern District of New York in October 2024 by a woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe. <\/p>\n
\nShe accused him of assaulting her at a party in 1995 \u2013\u00a0but on Monday (01.04.25) a federal judge dismissed the case after the plaintiff did not submit a revised complaint under her real identity.<\/p>\n
\nU.S. district judge Lewis Liman wrote in a ruling obtained by People magazine: \u201cOn March 6, 2025, the Court denied Plaintiff\u2019s motion to proceed anonymously and ordered her to file a complaint in her own name by March 20, 2025, or the case would be dismissed.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAs of (31 March), Plaintiff has not filed a complaint in her own name, nor has she sought an extension of time to do so. Accordingly, the case is dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCombs\u2019 legal team welcomed the decision, claiming it was part of a pattern of baseless accusations. They said in a statement: \u201cFor months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by attorneys more focused on media headlines than legal merit. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe other claims, like the one dismissed today, also will not hold up in a court of law.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe woman had been represented by Tony Buzbee, a high-profile Houston-based attorney who had previously announced that he was representing hundreds of people making allegations against Combs. Combs\u2019 legal representatives also criticised Mr Buzbee following Monday\u2019s dismissal.<\/p>\n
\nThey added: \u201cThis is now the second case brought by these attorneys against Mr Combs that has been dismissed in its entirety. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt will not be the last.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDespite the ruling, Combs remains a defendant in several other lawsuits accusing him of misconduct. <\/p>\n
\nHe has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
\nIn addition to a mass of civil cases against the rapper, alleging offences including rape, Combs is also facing criminal charges stemming from a September indictment on federal sex crimes, including sex trafficking and racketeering. <\/p>\n
\nHe has pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n
\nHis criminal trial is scheduled to begin in May and he remains in custody in Brooklyn after being denied bail.<\/p>\n
