The 71-year-old has retreated from being in front of the lens after moving from starring in \u2018The Andy Griffith Show\u2019 and \u2018Happy Days\u2019 to carving himself a name as one of Hollywood\u2019s most successful directors after making films including \u2018Apollo 13\u2019 and \u2018Backdraft\u2019.<\/p>\n

But he has now told People about how one person who could bring him back to the screen: \u201cI think that if my daughter Bryce cast me in something, that would compel me to put down the directing obligation, put them on hold for a minute and show up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor-turned-director was referring to his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard<\/a>, 44, who has directed documentary \u2018Dads\u2019, episodes of \u2018The Mandalorian\u2019 and \u2018The Book of Boba Fett\u2019.<\/p>\n

But Ron, who currently serves as executive producer for the Apple TV+ docuseries \u2018Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series\u2019, also acknowledged his acting days are mostly behind him. <\/p>\n

\nHe said: \u201cI happen to play myself in an upcoming episode of (Seth Rogen comedy) \u2018The Studio\u2019, and I had a lot of fun doing that\u2026 but it\u2019s hard to make time for.\u201d <\/p>\n

\nDespite his reluctance to act again, Ron said he still finds the world of filmmaking to endlessly fascinating. <\/p>\n

\nHe added his work behind the camera has been \u201csuch a fascinating way of life\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nRon also said the filmmaking process is about \u201cgiving it the medium and the audience and everything you\u2019ve got, and then trying to look for the next great story\u201d.<\/p>\n

\nHe added he\u2019s \u201cexuberant and forward-thinking about what I’m doing\u201d and looks forward to what comes next. <\/p>\n

\nRon also joked: \u201cAs long as I can physically enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe filmmaker began his career as a child actor, most notably starring as Opie Taylor on \u2018The Andy Griffith Show\u2019 and Richie Cunningham on \u2018Happy Days\u2019. <\/p>\n

\nHis transition to directing saw him became a household name as a filmmaker, with his directing style hailed as a blend of mainstream appeal and emotional depth.<\/p>\n

\nHe took home two Academy Awards for his \u2018A Beautiful Mind\u2019 film and continues to shape Hollywood through his production company Imagine Entertainment.<\/p>\n
