Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/strong> wrapped up Wednesday\u2019s DOGE subcommittee hearing<\/a> on federal funding for public media by warning about the \u201cpropaganda\u201d airing on NPR and PBS, content \u201cso radical,\u201d she said, that \u201cit is brainwashing the American people and, more significantly, American children, with un-American, anti-family, pro-crime fake news.\u201d<\/p>\n Greene\u2019s concluding screed could\u2019ve been expected for a hearing billed as follows: \u201cAnti-American Airwaves: Holding the Heads of NPR and PBS Accountable.\u201d The Georgia representative would eventually call \u201cfor the complete and total defund and dismantling of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,\u201d but not before NPR\u2019s Katherine Maher<\/strong> and PBS\u2019s Paula Kerger<\/strong> faced a litany of questions on everything from coverage of Hunter Biden<\/strong>\u2019s laptop and COVID\u2019s origins to old tweets and content featuring drag performers.<\/p>\n Democrats, meanwhile, questioned why Congress was focusing on the likes of Sesame Street<\/em> in the midst of shocking revelations that top Trump administration officials were sharing and discussing attack plans<\/a> in a Signal chat that mistakenly included a journalist. Representative Stephen Lynch<\/strong> slammed the GOP House majority for failing to \u201chold Trump and Trump\u2019s administration accountable,\u201d adding: \u201cThey would rather post up against Big Bird than deal with that.\u201d Representative Jasmine Crockett<\/strong> used her time to challenge<\/a> her Republican colleagues, saying, \u201cThe idea that you want to shut down everybody that is not Fox News is bullshit.\u201d<\/p>\n
