The US leader has blasted the ‘Wolfs’ star and the TV show ’60 Minutes’ following the 63-year-old actor’s appearance on the programme over the weekend in a rant in which he also dismissed George as a “failed political pundit”.<\/p>\n

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump fumed: \u201cWhy would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total \u2018puff piece\u2019 on George Clooney<\/a>, a second rate movie \u2018star,\u2019 and failed political pundit.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe fought hard for Sleepy Joe\u2019s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for \u2018Kamala,\u2019 only to soon realize that that was not going to work out too well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history\u2026And now George Clooney<\/a> again? His press agent should be making a fortune!!!(sic)”<\/p>\n

\nIn his ’60 Minutes’ interview to promote his Broadway debut in ‘Good Night, and Good Luck’, George discussed the parallels between the turbulent media and political landscape in the play and in the US today.<\/p>\n

\nHe said: \u201cWhen the other three estates fail, when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us, the fourth estate has to succeed.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cABC has just settled a lawsuit with the Trump administration. And CBS News is in the process \u2026 We\u2019re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations\u2014to make journalists smaller.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cGovernments don\u2019t like the freedom of the press. They never have. And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you\u2019re on. They don\u2019t like the press.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nThe ‘Up in the Air’ star also addressed the op-ed piece he wrote for the New York Times last year calling on then-President Joe Biden to step down as the Democrat candidate in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

\nHe said: \u201cI\u2019ll make it kind of easy. I was raised to tell the truth.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI had seen the president up close for this fundraiser, and I was surprised. And so I feel as if there was a lot of profiles in cowardice in my party through all of that.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cAnd I was not proud of that. And I also believed I had to tell the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nWhen his essay was published, George was again blasted by Trump, who branded him a \u201cfake movie actor\u201d who \u201cnever came close to making a great movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nHe added: \u201cWhat does Clooney know about anything?<\/p>\n

\n\u201cClooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!\u201d<\/p>\n
