Katie Thurston<\/strong><\/a> and Jeff Arcuri<\/strong><\/a> are tying the knot!<\/p>\n The 34-year-old The Bachelorette<\/em> alum and the 36-year-old comedian got married over the weekend, Us Weekly<\/a><\/em> reports.<\/p>\n The two had an intimate backyard ceremony at their own home on Saturday (March 22), which Jeff<\/strong> revealed during an interview with Us<\/em> two days prior.<\/p>\n When asked about Katie<\/strong>\u2018s stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis<\/a> has affected their relationship, he said: \u201cYou would think it would cause more tribulation or problems between you, but it\u2019s bonded us more than anything else, which is why we\u2019re moving up the wedding a little bit. \u2026 We\u2019re getting married in two days.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Katie<\/strong> began to cry, recalling her now-husband\u2019s \u201csweet sentiment of being there for me,\u201d and becoming her husband before she begins her treatment on Thursday, March 27. <\/p>\n According to the report, Katie<\/strong> will be part of the I-Spy breast cancer trial, which is aiming for personalized treatment based on a patient\u2019s tumor. Following that treatment, which could involve several rounds of chemo, she will undergo surgery.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so sweet. Obviously, we were wanting to plan a wedding and there\u2019s a lot of emotions that come in with chemo and the impact and the health and we don\u2019t know what the next year looks like,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd one night he said, \u2018I want to show you that I still love you and that I\u2019m here to stay. I\u2019ll get married to you tomorrow.\u2019 We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State. We got our marriage license and a friend is just gonna marry us.\u201d<\/p>\n They exchanged vows at home alongside their dog, Charlie<\/strong>, and their parents, and had dinner at Da Andrea. They plan to have a bigger celebration after she beats cancer.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is proving that he\u2019s here to stay. He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, \u2018My wife\u2019s in there.\u2019 There\u2019s more power to that,\u201d Jeff <\/strong>said. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be not with you for any of this.\u201d<\/p>\n The two first met over Instagram, after she sent friends a clip of the stand-up comedian a year ago.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you\u2019ve ever looked at his page, you just can\u2019t help but truly fall in love with him as a person. His personality \u2014 he\u2019s so pure and just charming,\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n \u201cSo on March 22nd of last year, I sent a clip to my girlfriends. I had never talked to him. We had never met. I sent this clip and said, \u2018Future husband.\u2019 At the time, I didn\u2019t realize, but I was manifesting my actual future husband, so when we were looking at dates, I was like, \u2018Wait, it has to be March 22nd.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n They met in person for the first time in Los Angeles on May 5 of last year, and were engaged by August.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been in a handful of relationships. Obviously, you have too \u2014 on TV,\u201d he joked of his now-wife\u2019s relationships on reality TV.<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes when you\u2019re in a relationship early on, you feel like you\u2019re being dishonest or there\u2019s a vibe of 10 percent things you don\u2019t know about them yet. And I never felt that with her. I felt that way [about] myself with her. I\u2019ve always felt like an open book with you. There\u2019s nothing I\u2019d ever hide from you. There\u2019s no reason to.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re the first person to not be upset with my goofiness,\u201d Jeff<\/strong> said. \u201cI\u2019ll dance and sing \u2026 and she\u2019s the only person that\u2019s ever been cheering me on for it and then videotaping me and joking with me about it as opposed to being like, \u2018Oh my God, what are you doing right now?\u2019 I just love that too. You make me feel not stupid.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s been great at matching my energy. \u2026 People say, \u2018You\u2019re so strong.\u2019 I might appear that way,\u201d Katie<\/strong> said. \u201cBut I\u2019m also in therapy and some days, I\u2019m very sad. Some days, we\u2019re very fun and playful and make very, you know, out of pocket jokes. So him just being able to match whatever mood shows up that day [is supporting me]. He\u2019s been to every single appointment with me so far. He\u2019s done every single shot that\u2019s involved with IVF.\u201d<\/p>\n Katie<\/strong> also said she underwent fertility treatments at RMA of New York.<\/p>\n \u201cChemo does impact your reproductive health. It does raise the risk of you not being able to conceive. Knowing that we wanted kids in the future, we thought, \u2018OK, let\u2019s do IVF just to have that option.\u2019 We dedicated two weeks before doing anything else breast cancer wise to doing IVF,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n \u201cRMA was amazing. I don\u2019t want to say they specialize in Oncofertility, but they understand \u2014 and all that really means is taking care of patients who have cancer who also wanna do IVF. [Some] doctors almost frown upon it or they want to put fear in you and say, \u2018No, you need to take care of this cancer.\u2019 So a lot of women don\u2019t even realize that you can take 10 days to dedicate time to your reproductive health and your future family plans. We were able to retrieve 17 eggs and of those 17, six became embryos.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe amount of times that she walks into a room reading a message from somebody saying they got checked because of her \u2014 she\u2019s taking what\u2019s happening to her and doing good,\u201d Jeff<\/strong> said. \u201cShe\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019m glad it happened to me with my platform so that I can help other people.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Congratulations to the happy couple!
