Amy Schumer<\/strong><\/a> has found the right weight loss<\/a> medication that works for her after experiencing horrible nausea while previously taking Wegovy.<\/p>\n The comedian, 43, opened up about her experience taking Mounjaro in a recent Instagram Reel<\/a> she posted on March 22.<\/p>\n \u201cThree years ago I tried Wegovy and I was, like, puking. I couldn\u2019t handle it. I don\u2019t know if they\u2019ve changed the formula. Whatever,\u201d Amy began. \u201cBut anyway, I went on this telehealth meeting with Midi Health, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself because I wanted to recommend it to, like, my friends who were, like, nurses and teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cMounjaro\u2019s been great, and look, it\u2019s not covered by insurance unless you have diabetes or severe obesity, which most of the internet thinks I have, but I\u2019m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.\u201d<\/p>\n Weight loss drugs like Ozempic<\/a> and Mounjaro have risen in popularity over the last few years, and they were initially used to help with type 2 diabetes. However, it was soon discovered that the active ingredient, semaglutide, also helped with weight loss. Wegovy also had the same effect, but its active ingredient was tirzepatide.<\/p>\n Amy has previously been open about how sick she was while taking Ozempic<\/a>, but she also explained that it might have been caused by a specific gene.<\/p>\n \u201cI have this gene \u2013 GDF15 \u2013 which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy,\u201d the I Feel Pretty<\/em> star said during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show<\/em><\/a> on January 29. \u201cSo, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago, and I was, like, bedridden. I was like vomiting, and then you have no energy. But other people take it, and they\u2019re all good.\u201d<\/p>\n Howard, 71, who admitted that he \u201chates\u201d the drug because he \u201ctries so hard to be thin,\u201d joked that he was happy when he heard it made Amy sick.<\/p>\n \u201cI was so hopeful when I heard that you said, \u2018Oh, it made me sick.\u2019 I went, \u2018Oh good!\u2019 because everyone\u2019s going to get sick on it and I\u2019ll be back to being the only one who\u2019s thin,\u201d the Private Parts<\/em> actor teased. \u201cEvery day you read something new about it like how it prevents Alzheimer\u2019s, it gives you superpowers.\u201d<\/p>\n Amy continued, \u201cNo, I tried it and I was vomiting and in bed and my son\u2019s like, \u2018Can you play tag?\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018I can\u2019t.\u2019 I was, like, shriveling away. I lost 30 pounds so quick, and I looked great, but I couldn\u2019t lift my head off the pillow so, what\u2019s the point?\u201d<\/p>\n The Trainwreck<\/em> star has never been one to mince words when it came to her weight and the criticism she\u2019s received<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think they\u2019re mad that I\u2019m not thinner. I think they\u2019re mad I\u2019m not prettier and that I still feel like I have a right to speak,\u201d she said during a February 2024 appearance on the \u201cNot Skinny But Not Fat<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long time people have been coming for me. So yeah, it\u2019s just about how I\u2019m feeling about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
