Jeff Bridges’ family are all actors<\/p>\n
The ‘Crazy Heart’ star’s parents, Dorothy and Lloyd Bridges were both actors, as is his older brother Beau, but when he was considering his interests in music and art growing up, his father kept encouraging him to follow in the family footsteps.<\/p>\n
Jeff recalled to The Guardian newspaper: \u201cI had questions about what I was going to do, and my dad would say: \u2018Jeff, don\u2019t be ridiculous, that\u2019s the wonderful thing about acting, it\u2019s going to call upon all of your interests.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The 75-year-old actor has always been “resistance” but enjoys exploring what he is pushing against and has grown to realise his emotions are “no big thing”.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cTo do a movie, to bring me to the party, I resist, I resist. And there\u2019s such satisfaction in exploring that resistance and getting on the other side, not being afraid of it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m getting into the cold-plunging, I\u2019ve been doing that for a while, and my relationship with cold has shifted a bit.<\/p>\n
\n“Normally you think of cold as an enemy, but it\u2019s just a feeling. All of those different emotions that come up, they\u2019re no big thing man! Come on!<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve changed much since I was a little kid. I feel basically the same.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe ‘Big Lebowski’ star doesn’t think he truly knows who he is but loves being a catalyst for his art, even if it can be “frightening” at times.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI don\u2019t think we ultimately know who we really are all the time. The task for all these different things, whether it\u2019s acting, music, painting, ceramics, the main task is getting out of the way, letting the thing come through you. And it can be frightening sometimes. <\/p>\n
\n“But sometimes it just has its way with you, and when that happens, man it\u2019s a gas! <\/p>\n
\n“And when it happens with a bunch of other artists and you\u2019re all doing it together, it\u2019s real magic. It\u2019s the magic of trees and flowers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Jeff recalled ‘Masked and Anonymous’ director Larry Charles urging him to give co-star Bob Dylan some acting lessons while making the 2003 movie, and though he agreed, he didn’t feel it necessary because of the folk legend’s “incredible” presence.<\/p>\n
\nLarry told him: “Why don\u2019t you and Bob go off and you teach Bob some acting? Go and do some improvisation or something.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nJeff reflected: \u201cHe was so great to work with. He\u2019s such an incredible actor. I mean his presence, right?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd as a keen musician, a highlight of the 2003 shoot came when he was playing guitar and Bob appeared in the doorway.<\/p>\n
\nHe recalled: \u201cHe said \u2018Hey man, you want to jam?\u2019 “<\/p>\n
