It featured a rousing performance of the Parton hit \u201cI Will Always Love You\u201d by <strong>Reba McEntire<\/strong>, <strong>Carrie Underwood<\/strong>, Lady A and around 50 members of the Opry\u2019s choir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Earlier this month, Parton\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/dolly-partons-husband-carl-dean-dead-at-82\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">husband of nearly 60 years<\/span><\/a>, <strong>Carl Dean<\/strong>, died at the age of 82.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cEverybody here at the Opry and around the world wants to send you our thoughts and prayers,\u201d McEntire, 69, said from the stage. \u201cAnd you gotta know, we will always love you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to the star-studded group tribute, <strong>Carly Pearce<\/strong> performed \u201cJolene\u201d in homage to Parton, telling the crowd, \u201cDolly Parton is my hero, and it means so much to me that she invited me to join the Opry. Dolly, I just want you to know that my heart goes out to you and your family, and it is my great honor to sing my favorite Dolly song tonight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meanwhile, Parton appeared in a taped message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWell hello, I am Dolly Parton and I am a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I am so sorry that I can\u2019t be there with everybody in person, but of course you know my heart is with you and my spirit is with you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/carly-pearce-recalls-dolly-partons-surprise-grand-ole-opry-invitation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Us Weekly<\/i><span class=\"s3\"> caught up<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> with Pearce, 34, ahead of the event, where she exclusively recalled the day that Parton invited her to become an Opry member.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThat was probably the most surprised I\u2019ve ever been in my life,\u201d the country singer told <i>Us<\/i>. \u201cWhen you think of the Opry and you think of invitations to be a member, they usually happen on stage at the Opry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"news-block\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form  \" wp_automatic_readability=\"8.5\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-signup__success\" aria-live=\"polite\" wp_automatic_readability=\"7\">\n<h3>Thank You!<\/h3>\n<p>You have successfully subscribed.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On June 17, 2021, Pearce thought she was participating in a commercial for Dollywood after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/carlypearce\/p\/CymPQoExy9t\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">previously working<\/span><\/a> at the theme park. When Parton walked around the corner and introduced herself, everything changed for Pearce.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI was, of course, shocked, but I thought that we were doing this Dollywood commercial together,\u201d she joked. \u201cAnd I heard her say the word \u2018Opry\u2019 several times in 30 seconds. I can only equate it to how a girl feels when she thinks she\u2019s getting engaged \u2014 of just like, \u2018Can you just say it?
