Ecker joined in on the fun by suggesting that perhaps Amy \u201cwas taking off\u201d an eyelash from Michael\u2019s cheek, adding, \u201cWe don\u2019t really know. There was a lot of talk and rewrites on that last episode \u2014 not necessarily about what the situation was \u2014 but what the audience sees. Do we end with Jake looking in or do we see what Jake sees? They even shot it a couple ways. They weren\u2019t quite sure how we were going to end it.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Jake? Ecker has questions about whether Amy\u2019s potential infidelity will cause<\/a> his character to take himself out of the equation.<\/p>\n\u201cFrom Jake\u2019s perspective, obviously it hurts but I think with time he is very empathetic. Just by the nature of being a doctor and tending to people\u2019s needs, once Jake gets over that hurt I think it is pretty understandable \u2014 Amy wanting to fall back into Michael\u2019s arms,\u201d Ecker noted. \u201cBecause for her, she\u2019s in a very fragile state and looks for some sort of comfort and something solid. Since she\u2019s missing those last eight years, I think Jake is going to understand why she feels the way she does. So it is that balance between how subjective and objective he can be with his emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n
