The 60-year-old singer has announced said is was in the process of applying for British citizenship after living in London since 2019. <\/p>\n
She told an audience at the Royal Geographical Society in the UK: \u201cI\u2019m really glad I\u2019m here. It\u2019s so great to live here. I\u2019m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen. I\u2019m applying, man! Can\u2019t get rid of me!\u201d<\/p>\n
Courtney\u2019s remarks were met with applause, according to the Daily Mail, which reported her remarks.<\/p>\n
The clapping prompting her to elaborate on her concerns regarding the Republican administration in the States.<\/p>\n
\nCourtney added: \u201cIn terms of Trump and particularly this group\u2026 it\u2019s like emperor-core. Like, (they\u2019re) wearing million-dollar watches. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cEmperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It\u2019s frightening now. It\u2019s like cyanide now.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe musician, who rose to fame as the frontwoman of the rock group Hole, has long spoken about her affinity for the UK. <\/p>\n
\nEven before her planned move from Los Angeles to London, she suggested she always expected to settle in Britain. <\/p>\n
\nCourtney told the Evening Standard in 2017 about her plan to move to London: \u201cI know what neighbourhood I\u2019m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI subscribe to this magazine called \u2018Country Life,\u2019 which is just real-estate porn and fox hunting. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCourtney, the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, had a daughter, 32-year-old Frances Bean Cobain, with the tragic rocker before he took his life. <\/p>\n
\nShe joins a growing list of public figures who have reportedly left the US following Donald Trump\u2019s re-election in November 2024.<\/p>\n
\nEllen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, were said to be \u201cvery disillusioned\u201d by his rise to power again, and decided to leave the country immediately. <\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, comic Rosie O\u2019Donnell last week revealed she and her 12-year-old non-binary child, Clay, had relocated to Ireland after Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 White House race. <\/p>\n
\nRosie told her fans on social media: \u201cWhen it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that\u2019s when we will consider coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n
