Sean Lowe<\/strong> <\/a>and his wife, Catherine Giudici<\/strong><\/a>, are picking up the pieces after the former Bachelor was attacked by their dog, Moose.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know with what just transpired, obviously I can\u2019t keep Moose in this house. I\u2019ve got young kids, and I\u2019ve got to be concerned about my own safety, so I\u2019m talking to our local animal control, and they connected me with a great officer who happened to have a Boxer,\u201d Lowe, 41, said in a lengthy Instagram<\/a> video on Monday, March 17. \u201cHe was very sympathetic and we were just talking through the different things. I called our animal adoption agency where we got Moose [and] I was looking at the various no kill shelters. I was just trying to figure out the best plan of action, and this officer actually said, \u2018OK, make your calls and then call me back. We\u2019ll figure this out together.\u2019 Like, he was super helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowe noted that the rescue group later found out that there was \u201ca past\u201d with Moose \u201cthat they were not privy to,\u201d making it clear that there are still \u201ca lot of great dogs that need to be adopted.\u201d He added that there were \u201cno signs\u201d as the dog was previously \u201cgreat\u201d with their kids<\/a>. (The couple welcomed sons Samuel and Isaiah and daughter Mia in 2016, 2018 and 2019, respectively.)<\/p>\n

Lowe detailed the entire \u201ctraumatic\u201d experience, which began over the weekend when he was hosting a group of friends at their home for a barbeque. While the smoke alarm went off, Moose began biting Lowe \u201caggressively\u201d as he tried to get the smoke out of the room with a towel.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSean Lowe is recalling a traumatic incident with his and wife Catherine Giudici\u2019s new dog, Moose. \u201cHey everybody, so, I guess you could say our family has been through something pretty traumatic over the weekend,\u201d Lowe, 41, said in a Monday, March 17, Instagram post. \u201cI\u2019ve debated on whether or not we should share this [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAt this point again, there\u2019s so much chaos going on with the alarm going off, I give him, like, a very stern like, \u2018Moose. No. No.\u2019 And it was right about that moment where he shows his teeth at me and just attacks me, and I don\u2019t mean like bite and run off like a lot of dogs do when they\u2019re scared or defensive. I mean, attacks me, and I feel him just kind of ripping into the flesh of my arm,\u201d Lowe recalled. \u201cAnd at this point, I am doing everything I possibly can just to fend this dog off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lowe began \u201cbleeding badly,\u201d claiming that the cut was \u201cso deep\u201d that blood was \u201csquirting\u201d for a couple feet. While Lowe initially thought that the dog \u201cnicked an artery,\u201d he was rushed to the ER and received stitches in \u201cfive or six different places\u201d on his arm. The next morning, Lowe recalled being \u201cconfused\u201d and \u201cheartbroken\u201d by the events.<\/p>\n

After Lowe told his parents about the attack, they offered to take the couple\u2019s kids out of the house as they figured out next steps. While his parents were over, Lowe claimed that Moose got out of the house and attacked him again \u2014 resulting in another trip to the ER.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s clear, he experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong with him, where just a switch flipped and he turned into an absolute killer,\u201d Lowe said of Moose, adding that he doesn\u2019t \u201cblame\u201d the dog.<\/p>\n

While Lowe said he thinks he will be OK \u201cfrom a psychological perspective,\u201d he noted that the events have \u201ctaken a toll\u201d on his wife, who sat with him as he retold the story for his Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super grateful it was me and it was not my kids or my wife, and that I made it out relatively unscathed,\u201d he said. \u201cHave scarred arms for the rest of my life, but I can live with that.\u201d<\/p>\n
