Convicted rapist<\/a> Harvey Weinstein<\/strong> appears to believe that it\u2019s just a matter of time before he\u2019s back in the business of making movies, a new interview suggests. Speaking with Page Six<\/a>, the 72-year-old former media mogul suggests that far-right pundit<\/a> Candace Owens<\/strong> will help to exonerate him of claims made by over 90 women<\/a> of sexual misconduct and sexual assault.<\/p>\n Harvey Weinstein was convicted of rape<\/a> in New York in 2020 after scores of women<\/a>, including Rose McGowan<\/strong>, Kate Beckinsale<\/strong>, and Angelina Jolie<\/strong> came forward with allegations against him. In 2022, he was convicted<\/a> of three more sex crimes charges in a separate trial in Los Angeles; in 2024, his first conviction was overturned<\/a> after an appeals court ruled that mistakes had been made during his trial. His retrial<\/a> on those original New York charges, as well as some previously unheard accusations, is scheduled to begin jury selection<\/a> on April 15.<\/p>\n In a report published Friday, Page Six scribe Ian Mohr<\/strong> writes that Weinstein \u201cwas in a good mood\u201d during a jailhouse interview, despite his current incarceration at Rikers Island. \u201cThis is a horrible place, no one should be here,\u201d Weinstein reportedly said of the detention facility, which also hosted him during his first trial five years ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Miramax co-founder perked up when discussing Owens, whose claims that \u201cHollywood is run by sinister Jewish gangs\u201d is one of the reasons she was awarded advocacy group StopAntisemitism\u2019s Antisemite of the Year crown in 2024<\/a>. The podcaster, who cut ties with<\/a> far-right outlet The Daily Wire last year over her false claims about Jewish people, announced last month<\/a> that she\u2019s been in contact with Weinstein since 2022 and has grown to believe that the prominent donor<\/a> to Democratic and liberal causes was also the victim of a \u201cpoliticized\u201d courtroom.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always had faith in our court system, and now that\u2019s beginning to change,\u201d Owens said in an announcement of her upcoming attempt to exonerate Weinstein.<\/p>\n According to Weinstein, Owens \u201cis going to be a superstar, and I have been around stars.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s doing investigative reporting on her podcast,\u201d he says, admitting that \u201cMy views are completely different than hers, but she\u2019s tough and tenacious.\u201d<\/p>\n He also appears to believe that between the New York retrial and Owens\u2019 work, he might soon be free. \u201cI have a couple movies left in me,\u201d he told Mohr, but said he\u2019d also be content to spend time with his children if he is somehow released.<\/p>\n But that, like Owens\u2019 claims about a secret cabal that runs Hollywood, might be pure fantasy. Even if he prevails in his second New York prosecution, he still has a 16-year sentence in California<\/a> to serve. While Weinstein\u2019s defense team has also appealed that conviction<\/a>, as of publication time, that conviction still stands<\/a>. Given the elderly defendant\u2019s frail health<\/a>, a return to the producer\u2019s chair seems unlikely, indeed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
