And I still have a lot of videos and photos on my phone from that time. So, I have the movie in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The biopic \u2014 titled <em>Golden<\/em>, though it was originally named <em>Atlantic<\/em> \u2014 was directed by <strong>Michel Gondry<\/strong>, best known for <em>Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind<\/em>. While many celebrities had iconic career milestones through the years, it can be an impressive feat to see such accomplishments recreated on the big screen. Celebrities such as Dolly Parton, Justin Bieber and Hillary Clinton are among the few who already have casting ideas in mind, though no films have officially been [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Initially scheduled to be released on May 5, Universal Pictures decided to permanently shutter the project in February, 2025. <em>Variety<\/em> was the first to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/news\/pharrell-movie-shut-down-michel-gondry-golden-1236300426\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report the news<\/a>, adding that the studio has no plans to shop the film around, either.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s such a beautiful story about honoring where you come from, your hometown, and joy and just knowing that the journey is wrong and the route that we\u2019re on is ever-changing and evolving and we have to embrace that and not be afraid of the journey,\u201d Harrison Jr. said of the project. \u201cAnd it is such a broad thing, but it is hard to explain. It\u2019s one of those movies to experience and Michelle Gondry directed. You know what I\u2019m saying? Its 13 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 26\/100 Metacritic score were bad enough, but the film\u2019s star Dakota Johnson\u2019s own comments on the movie\u2019s press tour didn\u2019t exactly help matters. Asked if [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen all of us got into the editing room we collectively decided there wasn\u2019t a path forward to tell the version of this story that we originally envisioned,\u201d Williams and Gondry told the outlet in a joint statement. \u201cWe appreciate all the hard work of the talented cast and crew. The movie, starring Harrison Jr. alongside <strong>Sadie Sin<\/strong>, <strong>Regina Hall<\/strong>, <strong>Kelly Maconald<\/strong>, <strong>Murray Bartlett<\/strong> and <strong>Mark Boone Junior<\/strong>, follows a farm girl (Sin) as she embarks on an epic quest to recover a beloved family heirloom in a post-apocalyptic future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a unique love story,\u201d Harrison Jr. told <em>Us<\/em> of the film. \u201cWe don\u2019t always get an opportunity to be ourselves all the time, and our idea of what that\u2019s supposed to be is very limited. This movie is not only genre-bending but also gender-bending and has so many different styles and vibes. I think it\u2019s just going to be cool for those who feel like they haven\u2019t quite found a place that they feel like a little bit of a home in this movie.
