Dwyane Wade<\/strong><\/a> has revealed that he and wife Gabrielle Union<\/strong><\/a> moved their family out of Florida.<\/p>\n In a new interview, the 41-year-old retired Miami Heat player discussed the hypocrisy of certain Florida politicians who claim to be his fans, but have still passed anti-LGBTQ+ policies that negatively impact his family.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s another reason why I don\u2019t live in that state,\u201d Dwyane<\/strong> shared with Rachel Nichols<\/strong> during a recent episode of Headliners<\/em><\/a>. \u201cA lot of people don\u2019t know that. I have to make decisions for my family, not just personal, individual decisions.\u201d <\/p>\n Dwyane<\/strong>\u2018s 15-year-old daughter Zaya<\/strong><\/a> came out as transgender in 2020, after after a lengthy legal battle with her birth mother Siohvaughn Funches<\/strong>, the teen model was finally granted a legal name and gender change<\/a> in February 2023.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, obviously, the tax [situation] is great. Having Wade County is great,\u201d Dwyane<\/strong> said of Florida, \u201cbut my family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there. And so that\u2019s one of the reasons why I don\u2019t live there.\u201d <\/p>\n Along with Zaya<\/strong>, Dwyane <\/strong>is dad to sons Zaire<\/strong><\/a>, 21, and Xavier<\/strong><\/a>, 9. He and Gabrielle<\/strong>, 50, share 4-year-old daughter Kaavia<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Later in the interview, Dwyane <\/strong>said he credits his father for his own parenting philosophies.<\/p>\n \u201cI tell my dad all the time, I\u2019m just a mirror image of the way he loved us and the way that he accepted not only myself and my brothers but other kids in the community that didn\u2019t have father figures,\u201d Dwyane<\/strong> shared.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd so I don\u2019t know any difference. And so yes, I had to educate myself and yes, I had to get a better understanding,\u201d Dwyane<\/strong> continued. \u201cAnd yes, I had to lose some friends along the process, but I never wavered on loving my kids and trying to find space to get the chance to understand them.\u201d<\/p>\n In a recent interview, Zaya<\/strong> opened up about coming out as trans when she was 12-years-old<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
