Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a> and Anna Kendrick<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s dynamic has included both friendly banter and some not-so-serious shade.<\/p>\n Lively and Kendrick briefly met before they first starred in A Simple Favor<\/em> together which premiered in 2018. It wasn\u2019t until their interactions during the 2018 promo sparked rumors of a possible feud, raising some proverbial eyebrows. Neither Kendrick nor Lively have publicly addressed any of the speculation.<\/p>\n Six years after A Simple Favor<\/em> premiered, the duo reunited for the sequel Another Simple Favor<\/a>.<\/em> Ahead of the movie\u2019s release, a source exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> that there was \u2013 and is \u2013 no bad blood between Kendrick and Lively.<\/p>\n \u201cThere aren\u2019t any issues between Blake and Anna right now,\u201d the insider explained in February 2025, noting that both actresses \u201creally love\u201d the sequel and planned to \u201cbe doing press together.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Kendrick raised eyebrows for a second time after she dodged questions about working with Lively again while the pair attended the SXSW premiere for the movie. Despite Kendrick\u2019s behavior, director Paul Feig<\/strong> shut down online discourse<\/a> that the women were not on good terms.<\/p>\n \u201cI just reported on Blake being terrified to walk the carpet as Anna is pissed and never wants to work with her again,\u201d a social media user claimed in March 2025, to which Feig replied, \u201cUm \u2026 you\u2019re wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n Keep scrolling to see what Kendrick and Lively have said about each other over the years:<\/p>\n In a joint May 2018 interview with MTV<\/a>, Kendrick poked fun at Lively, teasing she wasn\u2019t as kind as she initially believed.<\/p>\n \u201cI worked with her husband Ryan [Reynolds] several years ago, so I met Blake a few times through Ryan on that film,\u201d Kendrick said. \u201cAnd I thought she seemed nice. And little did I know!\u201d<\/p>\n During the pair\u2019s joint interview with journalist Kjersti Flaa<\/strong>, Kendrick teased that she avoids Lively on social media<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a couple of people that I\u2019ve muted,\u201d Kendrick quipped in the August 2018 clip<\/a> before loudly whispering Lively\u2019s name.<\/p>\n Lively shared in an September 2018 interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> that she was excited for the chance to work closely with Kendrick after admiring her for quite some time.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been a fan of hers for a long time, so there\u2019s immediate chemistry \u2014 she just didn\u2019t know about it,\u201d she reflected. \u201cSo it\u2019s just been a real slow, burn until I finally convinced her to be in a movie with [me].\u201d<\/p>\n Kendrick joked that after working together she wanted to keep her and Lively\u2019s fauxmance alive and well.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know what it is? Ryan\u2019s an attractive, famous, successful man and you need to keep them on their toes. He\u2019s got a great lady and I just need to let him know that Blake\u2019s got options, you know what I\u2019m saying!\u201d she teased to ET<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019ll just be sneaky. I\u2019ll just slide into her DMs.\u201d<\/p>\n Lively revealed that she and Kendrick met when they were in their late teens and was \u201cnervous\u201d to get to know her.<\/p>\n \u201cWe met through friends, and it was right after the premiere of Rocket Science,\u201d she recalled in a September 2018 Buzzfeed interview<\/a>. \u201cYou were just so good and I was just like, \u2018Oh you\u2019re so funny and charming.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Wow, this girl\u2019s really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n Kendrick shared to Buzzfeed in September 2018 that she and Lively had a \u201cpartner-in-crime vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSometimes you work with somebody, and they\u2019re great \u2014 they\u2019re really, genuinely great \u2014 and they just have a very different working style, let\u2019s say,\u201d she reflected. \u201cYou know, they\u2019re the kind of person that you can\u2019t come to them in between and be like, \u2018Yo, let me tell you what just happened.\u2019 So that was great.\u201d<\/p>\n Lively confessed that she had a challenging day on set of A Simple Favor that ended with her coming in late.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m still scarred by this \u2026 when I worked late the night before, and so they told me to come in an hour and a half later the next morning, but didn\u2019t make you come in later,\u201d she said to Buzzfeed in September 2018. \u201cI came to set and I was in hair and makeup, and I was like, \u2018Oh, so weird, is Anna \u2014 where is she?\u2019 and they were like, \u2018Oh, she\u2019s been ready for an hour. We didn\u2019t push her call.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Kendrick quipped \u201cthat was the day\u201d she decided to \u201chate\u201d Lively.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so mortifying. You\u2019re working in every scene in this movie, and I come in for a few weeks like, \u2018Just wait for me for an hour and a half while I get my hair braided!\u2019\u201d she explained. \u201cI literally wanted to die and I sucked so bad in that scene because I never recovered.\u201d<\/p>\n During the March 2025 SXSW premiere for Another Simple Favor<\/em>, Kendrick was asked about what it was like to work with Lively again.
