It\u2019s been two months since Hoda Kotb<\/strong><\/a> said goodbye to Today<\/em><\/a>, and the exit inspired an exciting new project.<\/p>\n

During the \u201cPop Start\u201d segment on the Monday, March 10, episode of the morning show, Carson Daly<\/strong> announced that Kotb, 60, will release her new book, Jump and Find Joy<\/em>, later this year.<\/p>\n

In a video message<\/a>, Kotb shared more about the meaning behind the title. \u201cEverybody in their life, at one point, stands on the edge of something and says, \u2018Should I jump? Should I try? Should I go for it?\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I felt that way about the Today<\/em> show, and I was terrified to even think about jumping.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotb noted that her pal Maria Shriver<\/strong> helped her come to terms with her decision to leave the NBC morning show. \u201cShe was like, \u2018You\u2019ve jumped your whole life. You were in small markets in television [and] you jumped from city to city. You jumped into relationships and out of them. You jumped into motherhood. You have a history of jumping, so don\u2019t tell me that you can\u2019t jump,\u2019\u201d Kotb shared.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHoda Kotb is ready to start a new chapter after saying goodbye to NBC\u2019s Today. The TV personality announced in September 2024 that she was departing the morning show after nearly 30 years working for the network. \u201cI just turned 60, and it was such a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 years [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The idea of \u201cjumping\u201d from one chapter of life to the next struck a chord for Kotb. \u201cI started thinking about different people who I\u2019ve loved and respected and admired who have been afraid to do something and have done it, and I included some of them in the book,\u201d she explained. \u201cViola Davis<\/strong>: This woman went from on her knees to this incredible spot, and it was an image that caused her to jump. Sarah Jakes<\/strong>, who\u2019s also in the book, T.D. Jakes<\/strong>\u2019 daughter, she\u2019s a pastor and she said, \u2018When you jump, you have to imagine yourself on the other side.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She concluded, \u201cHere\u2019s my thing, you get one life. That\u2019s all. That\u2019s it. It\u2019s ready for the taking. It only takes a jump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jump and Find Joy<\/em> hits bookstores on September 23 and is available for preorder now.<\/p>\n

The book marks Kotb\u2019s first official project since leaving her role<\/a> as Savannah Guthrie<\/strong>\u2019s Today<\/em> coanchor and Jenna Bush Hager<\/strong>\u2019s fourth hour cohost on January 10. Kotb has a few other ideas in the works, including a \u201cwellness app and company,\u201d which she announced during the January 6 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[It] will involve retreats and a podcast and all kinds of things that we can get together, do things that I love,\u201d she told host Kelly Clarkson<\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something that when you leave, you\u2019ll go like, \u2018\u2019Oh my gosh, I feel transformed. I feel different.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time, Kotb noted that the company was still in the \u201cbuilding process\u201d and that the app was set to launch this spring.<\/p>\n
