Katie Couric<\/strong><\/a> has been keeping in touch with Hoda Kotb<\/strong><\/a> following her exit from the Today show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve texted her a couple of times and told her I hope she was sleeping in,\u201d Couric, 68, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, March 6. Couric left Today<\/em> in 2006 after 15 years on the show to anchor CBS Evening News<\/em>, becoming the first solo woman in history to anchor a nightly news broadcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone was asking me earlier today about leaving the Today<\/em> show,\u201d Couric told Us<\/em>, adding that \u201cchange and new challenges keeps life interesting and exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shared, \u201cIf you do something too long, it starts to feel stale no matter how exciting the job may be. So I was excited for Hoda<\/a> \u2014 having anchored the Today<\/em> show for 15 years \u2014 to go and try new things and challenge herself and, you know, be in different venues. I\u2019m really excited for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotb, 60, announced her departure<\/a> from Today<\/em> in September 2024 after almost 30 years with NBC.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just turned 60, and it was such a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 years old because I started thinking about that decade, like, what does that decade mean? What does it hold? What\u2019s it gonna have for me?\u201d the host tearfully announced at the time. \u201cAnd I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and to try something new.\u201d<\/p>\n

She cited wanting to spend more time with her daughters, Haley and Hope, whom she shares with ex-fianc\u00e9 Joel Schiffman<\/strong>, as a major reason for her decision to walk away from the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking they deserve a bigger piece of my time, the pie that I have,\u201d she explained. \u201cI feel like we only have a finite amount of time. And so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHoda Kotb has no regrets about her recent Today show exit. \u201cI have no FOMO, which is so funny because I knew 100 [percent]. I don\u2019t have an ounce of it,\u201d Kotb, 60, exclusively told Us Weekly at Runway for Recovery\u2019s inaugural New York City fashion show at The Lighthouse, Chelsea Piers, on Thursday, February [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

An NBC insider exclusively told Us<\/em><\/a> at the time that Kotb\u2019s exit was a \u201chuge blow\u201d for the series. \u201cShe\u2019s the person that everybody loves,\u201d the insider told Us<\/em>. \u201cShe\u2019s the same off-camera as she is on-camera, and I think that\u2019s what\u2019s the hardest thing because that can\u2019t be said for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
