S.W.A.T.<\/em> will not return for a ninth season.<\/p>\n

CBS canceled the long-running action drama<\/a> for a third time Thursday, March 6, per The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> and Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking news, primarily because it\u2019s been such an immense pleasure working with this cast and crew to put out a show that we\u2019ve always been proud of,\u201d S.W.A.T.<\/em> showrunner and executive producer Andrew Dettmann<\/strong> said in a statement. \u201cThey are truly an extraordinary group of people who have all worked so hard and have been so dedicated for all these eight seasons, overcoming countless challenges. I can\u2019t give them enough credit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an extraordinary privilege to work on S.W.A.T. <\/em>for eight seasons and tell the stories of Hondo and 20-Squad,\u201d executive producer Shawn Ryan<\/strong> said. \u201cI thank our fans, Shemar Moore<\/strong>, the rest of our cast, our producers, Sony Pictures Television, CBS Studios and CBS for the opportunity. Most of all I want to thank our tireless, dedicated crew who made our writers, directors and cast always look good. My greatest concern right now is for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs networks make decisions about their programming, Us Weekly will continue to track what has been renewed and which TV shows have been canceled. Slow Horses was the first show to score a renewal in 2024. In early January, Apple TV+ picked up the series for a fifth season, which will be based on Mick [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

CBS previously canceled S.W.A.T.<\/em> after its sixth season in 2023, however, the network later reversed its decision and renewed the show for a seventh run, which it said would be its last. In May 2024, the network surprised fans again by renewing the Shemar Moore-fronted drama for season 8.<\/p>\n

This time, however, the cancellation is possibly \u201cfor good,\u201d Moore, 54, said via Instagram Thursday, reacting to the news.<\/p>\n

In a video shared with his followers, Moore said of the cancelation: \u201cIt sucks. It\u2019s sad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore said that he gave a speech to the show\u2019s crew Thursday to break the news.<\/p>\n

For instance,\u00a0Brooklyn Nine-Nine\u00a0fans made their disappointment known in May 2018 when Fox canceled the sitcom \u2014 starring Andy Samberg (Jake Peralta), Melissa Fumero (Amy Santiago), Andre Braugher (Raymond Holt), Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cUncanceled twice, two years in a row,\u201d Moore said in the video. \u201cCanceled. Uncanceled. Now, I don\u2019t know my history, but how many shows get to say that? I\u2019m gonna say none.\u201d<\/p>\n
