When Blake Shelton<\/a><\/strong> is away, Adam Levine<\/a><\/strong> will play \u2014 and finally secure a country music singer.<\/p>\n

During the Monday, March 3, episode of The Voice<\/i><\/a>, the Maroon 5 frontman was more than excited to fill his team with aspiring country singer Trevon Dawson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrevon was the perfect person to round out team Adam,\u201d Levine, 45, shared. \u201cHe has one of these young country voices that I hear a lot. You listen to the guys that are killing it right now in country music and I think he can do it. I can\u2019t wait to coach country. We\u2019re gonna kick ass.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the first 16 seasons of The Voice<\/i>, Levine struggled to obtain country singers for his team because they would often pick Shelton, 48, given his award-winning career in country music. This season, however, Levine\u2019s longtime frenemy is no longer a coach, allowing him to secure talented cowboys (and cowgirls) like Dawson, 17.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe coaches on The Voice are known for having the best chemistry \u2014 but it\u2019s safe to say that Blake Shelton and Adam Levine were in a world of their own during their time on the show. The duo starred alongside one another on the NBC competition series for 16 seasons before the Maroon 5 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to call my friend Blake Shelton and I\u2019m going to be like, \u2018Hey stupid. Help me,\u2019\u201d Levine joked.<\/p>\n

Shelton left the show after season 23 to focus on other projects. Although Levine briefly stepped away from The Voice<\/i> after season 16, he returned this year for season 27.<\/p>\n

During week five of the blind auditions<\/a>, Dawson wowed the judges with his rendition of Bailey Zimmerman<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cReligiously.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Kelsea Ballerini<\/strong><\/a> argued that Levine hit the \u201cjackpot\u201d with the Missouri native, she also explained why the audition was so special.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou arguably had the highest stakes performance because our teams are full,\u201d she said, while acknowledging fellow coaches John Legend<\/strong> and Michael Bubl\u00e9<\/strong>. \u201cThere is one spot left for this season and it\u2019s Adam. He is tough because Blake has broken his heart over and over again. That\u2019s a long time of loving a genre that you just can\u2019t get to do because of Blake.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the battle rounds kick off on Monday, March 10, Levine had one final message of encouragement for Dawson.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, the people who end up winning the show are the ones that have those voices that just cut through all the noise,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m going to take all the no\u2019s I heard from country music and I\u2019m going to pour all of that into you.\u201d<\/p>\n
