Wendy Williams says her living conditions are \u2018suffocating\u2019<\/p>\n
\nThe former talk show host, 60, has been living in an assisted living facility under a court-appointed guardianship since May 2022, and she made the remark while opening up about her desire to leave both the facility and her legal guardianship.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on NewsNation\u2019s Banfield, Wendy said: \u201cWell, I don\u2019t have the freedom to do virtually anything. As far as where I am, I\u2019m on the fifth floor. They call it \u2018the memory unit\u2019, so it\u2019s for people who don\u2019t remember anything.”<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cI\u2019ve met the people who live here and I\u2019ve been here for almost a year now, and this is very suffocating.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWendy added many of the other residents require extensive medical care, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s the memory unit, you know what I mean? Why am I here? <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI have no idea, but I can tell you that it\u2019s $18,000 a month, which is extremely expensive. And what do I have? I have a bedroom, and a bathroom and a window.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWendy has repeatedly spoken about her wish to leave the facility. <\/p>\n
\nIn January, she told \u2018The Breakfast Club\u2019: \u201cI am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison. I\u2019m in this place with people who are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s… there\u2019s something wrong with these people here on this floor. I am clearly not.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe also claimed she was only allowed outside twice in 30 days and alleged the facility where she is being kept administered medication to her without full explanation. <\/p>\n
\nWendy went on: \u201cThe elevators are locked, visitors are restricted. I\u2019m ready to get out of here. I\u2019m ready to get out and get out of the guardianship. It\u2019s suffocating, it\u2019s very lonely.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWendy\u2019s court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, has overseen the TV star\u2019s finances and medical care since the guardianship was put in place. <\/p>\n
\nIn February 2024, Wendy\u2019s medical team disclosed she had been diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.<\/p>\n
