Taylor Lautner<\/strong><\/a> encouraged people to be \u201cnicer\u201d while calling out \u201ccruel\u201d comments about Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s weight.<\/p>\n

Lautner, 33, took to Instagram on Wednesday, February 26, to share a post from body positivity influencer Alex Light<\/strong>, who questioned Gomez\u2019s appearance with side-by-side photos of her at the 2025 SAG Awards<\/a> on Sunday, February 23, and pics taken one year prior.<\/p>\n

Light made comments about Gomez\u2019s weight<\/a> and claimed that the actress \u201clooked better\u201d before. Lautner reacted with a lengthy message of his own.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a cruel world full of hate out there,\u201d he wrote. \u201cYou can never please everyone nor should you have to. In my experience it doesn\u2019t make the words sting less, it just refocuses you onto what matters. And it sure isn\u2019t the shape, color or appearance of your body.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lautner asked his followers to set a positive example.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cDaily reminder to all of us to not forget how beautiful you are inside and out,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd be a little bit nicer.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show of support is one of many that Gomez, 32, has received since Sunday\u2019s awards show. The View<\/em>\u2018s Sunny Hostin<\/strong> and Whoopi Goldberg<\/strong> also rushed to Gomez\u2019s defense against body-shamers after a recent Glamour<\/em> op-ed titled \u201cIt\u2019s Okay to Feel Hurt When Celebrities Lose Weight\u2014but Let\u2019s Unpack It.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to the article \u2014 which alleged Gomez had a \u201cvisibly slimmer appearance\u201d that sparked \u201ca wave of reactions from fans\u201d \u2014 Hostin said on the Tuesday, February 25, episode of the talk show, \u201cThe sort of cult of celebrity is always interesting to me. Like, why look to a complete stranger for inspiration? You don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on in that person\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin mentioned Gomez\u2019s lupus diagnosis as a reminder to those speculating about other people\u2019s wellbeing, adding, \u201cShe may have lost this weight for her health condition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg, 69, agreed that Gomez\u2019s appearance was \u201cnobody\u2019s business\u201d<\/a> and said many people \u201cdon\u2019t realize\u201d celebrities have their own personal struggles. \u201cListen, everybody makes their choice in life,\u201d Goldberg explained.<\/p>\n

Gomez has not addressed the ongoing discussions about her body, but she has previously clapped back at speculation. Over the years, Gomez has been candid about how her health issues such as lupus, kidney problems and high blood pressure caused her weight to fluctuate.<\/p>\n

In the middle of her booming career, Gomez suffered a few personal setbacks including a lupus diagnosis, life-changing transplant surgery and a battle with mental health, but has [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI will do a red carpet, I will do whatever. I don\u2019t need to see it, I participated,\u201d she said on a 2019 episode of the \u201cGiving Back Generation\u201d podcast. \u201cI felt wonderful and that\u2019s where the extent of it is. I don\u2019t care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
