(Photo by Xavier Collin\/Image Press Agency)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Five people have since been charged in connection to his death, including two doctors, his live-in personal assistant, and an alleged drug dealer known as \u201cthe Ketamine Queen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to an indictment unsealed last August, Perry\u2019s assistant, <strong>Kenneth Iwamasa<\/strong>, and an acquaintance of Perry\u2019s, <strong>Erik Fleming<\/strong>, worked with two doctors, <strong>Salvador Plasencia<\/strong> and <strong>Mark Chavez<\/strong>, to procure large quantities of ketamine for Perry in the period leading up to his death by overdose.<\/p>\n<p>However, \u201cKetamine Queen\u201d <strong>Jasveen Sangha<\/strong> is charged with supplying Perry with the ketamine that ultimately caused his demise.<\/p>\n<p>It said Iwamasa gave Perry the final three doses of ketamine purchased from Sangha, using needles provided by Plasencia, on the day the actor was found dead in his hot tub.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"perfmatters-lazy-youtube\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DrhvsJuq1FQ\" data-id=\"DrhvsJuq1FQ\" data-query=\"feature=oembed\" onclick=\"perfmattersLazyLoadYouTube(this);\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"YouTube video\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" nopin=\"nopin\" class=\"perfmatters-lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/DrhvsJuq1FQ\/hqdefault.jpg\"\/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/DrhvsJuq1FQ\/hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube video\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" nopin=\"nopin\"\/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy | Official Trailer | Peacock Original\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DrhvsJuq1FQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDr. Plasencia was very clear in text messages\u2026 that he saw this as an opportunity to make a lot of money in a short amount of time,\u201d Estrada says in the new documentary, \u201cand he allegedly did just that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On October 28, 2023, Iwamasa administered Perry\u2019s first ketamine injection at approximately 8:30 a.m. According to the plea agreement, Iwamasa proceeded to give two more shots\u2014one four hours later, and another roughly 40 minutes after that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShoot me up with a big one,\u201d Perry reportedly instructed his assistant, before requesting him to prepare the hot tub. Their court proceedings are scheduled to begin March 4 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, Iwamasa, Fleming, and Dr. Chavez have admitted guilt and await their sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past, we used to call these things overdose deaths and do more blaming of the victim,\u201d says Estrada. \u201cWe don\u2019t do that anymore. We blame the drug dealers, the drug sellers, for taking advantage of those addiction issues to cause death or serious injury, and that\u2019s why we bring these cases.
