Love Is Blind<\/em><\/a> star David \u201cDave\u201d Bettenburg<\/strong> has sparked controversy within the first six episodes of season 8. While fans were quick to call him out about his \u201cjokes\u201d to the women<\/a> in the pods, his somewhat unhinged reaction to his fianc\u00e9e Lauren O\u2019Brien\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> situationship prior to coming on the show has viewers reeling.<\/p>\n In the Love Is Blind<\/em> season 8 episodes 7 through 9, Dave, 33, discovers that Lauren, 31, had a casual relationship with someone who has mutual friends with him. For reasons unbeknownst to the audience and Lauren herself, the medical device salesman had major issues with the situation as he felt she was not in a good place to pursue a serious relationship.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, Dave was like, \u2018Did you date anyone before coming on here?\u2019\u201d Lauren explained to the cameras during a one-on-one while in Honduras. \u201cI go, \u2018I was, like, talking to someone a couple of months ago, but I wouldn\u2019t have said that I dated them,\u2019 but Dave has mutual friends with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Lauren added that the other man in question was a guy she dated who now lived with one of her good friends.<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cSo I was giving [Dave] names and he\u2019s like, \u2018Oh I know him. I see him at the pool all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the information seemingly didn\u2019t sit well with Dave.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is going to be weird for me that I know both of your exes,\u201d Dave told Lauren. \u201cNot, like, well, but I know them. It\u2019s a little weird that I know them. Again, I don\u2019t know them well \u2026 And I don\u2019t want that to affect our relationship when we go back. I asked you if you were seeing anyone right before this experiment started. Hearing that I was like, \u2018OK\u2026\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Lauren was upfront about her relationship with the unnamed man. She even admitted to Dave that if things had progressed further in their relationship, she would have backed out of doing the show, but it wasn\u2019t enough to calm Dave\u2019s nerves. He said that he hadn\u2019t dated someone for almost four years before coming on Love Is Blind<\/em> and didn\u2019t understand how Lauren could have been talking with someone just before filming started.<\/p>\n \u201cHow do you go from seeing someone so recently to like, \u2018I\u2019m ready for marriage?\u2019\u201d Dave continued. \u201cThat just seems like a huge step in between, where it\u2019s like \u2026 how did you \u2026 I don\u2019t know. That\u2019s tough.\u201d<\/p>\n Dave also talked about his other connection in the pods, Molly Mullaney<\/strong>, having an \u201con-and-off\u201d relationship with someone six months before filming and it made him question things as well.<\/p>\n After returning to Minneapolis, Dave just could not let go of the fact that Lauren had been in a situationship before coming on the show and continued to bring it up. He spoke about it with her friends, who also tried to assure him that it was nothing serious. Near the end of episode 9, Lauren and Dave were preparing to host a little gathering for his friends to come over and Lauren was hoping she could clear the air, but things went south ahead of time and the couple ultimately opted to not have them over.<\/p>\n It was then revealed that Dave hadn\u2019t even been staying at the apartment with Lauren during the previous week. Despite her insistence that her relationship with the man in question was nothing serious, Dave confessed he wasn\u2019t comfortable staying at the apartment with her.<\/p>\n Fans won\u2019t know exactly what goes down during the rest of Lauren and Dave\u2019s time on Love Is Blind<\/em><\/a> until the next episodes premiere on Netflix on February 28.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
