Road rage has been around for a while. A newer phenomenon that\u2019s cropping up is EV charging rage \u2014 the feeling when a fellow EV owner cuts the line to grab one of the only working charge ports.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s common enough that people posted altercations between EV drivers on social media and forums<\/a>. In at least one case, the EV charging rage turned deadly<\/a>.<\/p>\n In response to this rage, and specifically to a fight that broke out<\/a> at a packed Supercharger station, Tesla announced in a post on X<\/a> this week it would start virtual queuing pilots in the second quarter at \u201cselect sites.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGoal is a net customer experience improvement for the ~1% cases of a wait time,\u201d reads the post, which doesn\u2019t mention the widespread issue of wait times or that Tesla owners have brought up the idea for a queue system in owners forums and social media.<\/p>\n Tesla said it would implement a wider rollout this year if the feedback is positive. <\/p>\n \u201cWe also continue to expand the network 20%+ year-over-year, closely tracking site-level demand,\u201d Tesla\u2019s X post reads. <\/p>\n It\u2019s not clear if drivers of EVs that aren\u2019t made by Tesla will have access to this queue system from the start. Several automakers, including GM, Ford, Nissan, and Lucid, have already gained access to Tesla\u2019s Supercharger network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
