\u2018Sex and the City\u2019 star Candice Bergen<\/a>\u2019s husband has died aged 88.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sex and the City\u2019 star Candice Bergen\u2019s husband has died aged 88<\/p>\n

Marshall Rose, famed as a real estate magnate and philanthropist, passed away peacefully at home in New York on Saturday (15.02.25) surrounded by loved ones, it emerged on Monday (17.02.25.) <\/p>\n

He died from complications of Parkinson\u2019s disease after \u201cmany years of extraordinary strength and resilience\u201d, according to an online obituary. <\/p>\n

Marshall is survived by Candice, his children Wendi and Andrew, his stepdaughter Chloe<\/a>, and his grandchildren Alexander, Clio, Ell, Milo, Arthur, and Alice. <\/p>\n

His funeral will be held at Central Synagogue on Tuesday (18.02.25) at 12pm.<\/p>\n

\nHis family praised his \u201clegacy of fierce compassion, stubborn persistence, and commitment to cheering on the Knicks\u201d, adding: \u201cHis wisdom, strength, and generosity of spirit will be remembered by the countless people whose lives he touched.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nCandice, 78, once reflected on how she prioritised their relationship over her showbiz work: \u201cYou know, I\u2019m not that ambitious. I\u2019m always grateful when I get offered something that engages me, it\u2019s for the right amount of time, and I don\u2019t have to leave my husband for more than a week or two. That\u2019s really all I ask.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nBorn in Brighton Beach in 1937, Marshall studied economics at City College before earning a law degree from NYU and later receiving an honorary degree from CUNY. <\/p>\n

\nIn 1978, he founded The Georgetown Company, which developed projects including Frank Gehry\u2019s IAC building and the renovation of Madison Square Garden. <\/p>\n

\nHe served on the board of the New York Public Library for 30 years.<\/p>\n

\nCandice, who was previously married to film director Louis Malle until his death in 1995, spoke warmly about her relationship with Rose in a 2015 interview with Sandra Bullock. <\/p>\n

\nShe said about working with the actress on \u2018Miss Congeniality\u2019: \u201cWe had just gotten married! We started shooting when our honeymoon was supposed to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nSandra added: \u201cWe were on that location on the stage. He was there \u2013\u00a0I don\u2019t know what we were doing \u2013\u00a0but I remember looking across, and you were giddy. It was the sweetest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nCandice, known for her role as Enid Frick in \u2018Sex and the City\u2019 and its spin-off \u2018And Just Like That…\u2019, also won five Emmys and two Golden Globes for her performance as the title character in \u2018Murphy Brown\u2019. <\/p>\n

\nShe was nominated for an Academy Award for 1979\u2019s \u2018Starting Over\u2019 and a BAFTA for her role in \u2018Gandhi\u2019.<\/p>\n
