Charleson played Dr. Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital<\/em> for over 2,000 episodes.<\/p>\nGeneral Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini<\/strong> announced Charleson\u2019s death via the show\u2019s official Instagram account last month.<\/p>\n\u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Leslie Charleson,\u201d he wrote. \u201cHer enduring legacy has spanned nearly 50 years on General Hospital<\/em> alone and, just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew.\u201d<\/p>\nAlongside the message, Valentini shared a photo of the four-time Daytime Emmy nominee smiling. \u201cI will miss our daily chats, her quick wit and incredible presence on set,\u201d he continued. \u201cOn behalf of everyone at General Hospital, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to her loved ones during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
