Typically ebullient brothers Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> and Jason Kelce<\/strong><\/a> kicked off the latest episode of their podcast New Heights<\/em><\/a> on a subdued note, addressing Travis\u2019s Sunday Super Bowl 2025<\/a> loss with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n \u201cI couldn\u2019t find a lick of momentum,\u201d Travis said during the episode, published Wednesday, of the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> trouncing the Chiefs 40-22<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued to say that he \u201cwasn\u2019t the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys,\u201d and appeared to assign himself more than a little responsibility for the team\u2019s overall performance \u201cas the guy that\u2019s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a tough pill to swallow,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a hard reality, man. I love my teammates, I love my coaches. Chiefs Kingdom, I\u2019m sorry for how it ended.\u201d<\/p>\n He emphasized how lucky he is to have a support system, including the crowd of 50 or so friends and family who came to New Orleans to watch the game, and were there for him after the difficult loss dashed the team\u2019s hopes of an unprecedented third Super Bowl win in a row.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a beautiful life,\u201d he said. \u201cI have loved ones, I have the most amazing family in the world that supports me in everything that I do. They were all there, cheering me on and hoping for the best on Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n Among that cheering squad were girlfriend Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>, mom Donna Kelce<\/strong>, and Jason and his wife Kylie Kelce<\/strong>. (Donald Trump<\/strong> was also in attendance<\/a> at the game, but was presumably not one of those who comforted Travis post-game.)<\/p>\n Jason, too, got visibly emotional discussing the game during the episode. Jason, who is just shy of two years older than Travis, retired from the NFL after last season, having spent his entire career with the Eagles. Ahead of the game, both he and wife Kylie talked about their conflicting feelings going into the matchup, rooting for both their family and their football family, and knowing that only one of the two could ultimately prevail. (Their three daughters, watching back at home, were set to wear \u201cGo Uncle Trav\u201d shirts<\/a>.)<\/p>\n When Travis asked how it felt to watch the game, Jason had an immediate, one-word answer: \u201cTerrible.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was very, very hard to watch,\u201d Jason said, a sentiment that he repeated, calling it a \u201cfucked-up emotion\u201d and adding that \u201cIt ended up just not being a fun game to be a part of or watch,\u201d and even more difficult than he\u2019d imagined.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know what it was going to feel like going through the game,\u201d he said. \u201cI thought I did.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe further the game went on, I just got more and more upset,\u201d he said. \u201cI just don\u2019t know how to articulate that I\u2019m happy for some of the Eagles, but at the same time I was miserable during the game watching you not achieve your success again. That\u2019s the reality of it. I didn\u2019t enjoy any part of that. It fucking sucked.\u201d<\/p>\n Travis comforted his brother, telling him, \u201cI know who Jason Kelce is, and I know my brother and what his intentions are, and nobody can ever fucking confuse that. You can\u2019t let these jamokes online let you think that you\u2019re in the wrong for what you\u2019re saying. I hear it. I hear it, loud and clear.\u201d<\/p>\n Travis, who said he was \u201ccompartmentalizing\u201d the loss,\u201d offered some perspective on his brother\u2019s position, and the loss in general, even as retirement speculation swirls.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can still be happy and you can still be sad for somebody, and it is what it is,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s fucking football, man, and I know I\u2019m saying it like that because I just lost the fucking game and I\u2019m going to act like it didn\u2019t mean the entire world, but it\u2019s my third in three years. I\u2019ve had so much success playing this game, it still means the world, and it always will, and this one\u2019s gonna fucking hurt\u2026but this game, it\u2019s just. It\u2019s just our jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy life is still beautiful,\u201d he said. \u201cI come home to an amazing household of family and friends that absolutely love me, and that\u2019s the beauty of going through a hard time like this, is that I can still have happiness and still have an amazing time in life even when something like this happens, because I got the support that I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
