The 32-year-old pop star insisted that these days it is not possible to be in the public eye in her position and not speak out on certain political situations, but she knows that she won’t always “get it right” and there will be “consequences” to that. <\/p>\n

She said: “Cancel culture is thriving now. When you\u2019re in the public eye, it\u2019s quite scary. I\u2019ve always been quite vocal, and I\u2019m not always going to get it right. “But you can\u2019t be a pop artist right now without speaking out about certain things.<\/p>\n

” I have been warned there could be consequences for speaking out about things like Palestine, but these are basic human rights. We\u2019re seeing an attack on the trans community, and I have a very big LGBTQ+ fanbase, I can\u2019t sit back and not be vocal about defending that community. I\u2019m happy to pay the consequences if it means doing the right thing.”<\/p>\n

The ‘It Girl’ hitmaker – who shot to fame as part of Little Mix alongside Perrie Edwards<\/a>, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson – added that she has a voice in her head which she likened to a homosexual man whom she regards as a guide in life.<\/p>\n

\nShe said: “I definitely have an inner voice, which I feel like is a gay man telling me how to navigate life and if I look good. Little Jade is in there too and is guiding me. If I\u2019m anxious or overthinking things, I imagine how she\u2019d feel about where I am now.<\/p>\n

\n“There is [a negative voice] and it\u2019s all about [social media]. It\u2019s definitely about putting my phone down and coming off Twitter [X]. I never go on apps like that and come off them feeling good about myself. I\u2019ve had to grow a thick skin in this industry \u2013 people are constantly talking about me and how I look or what the music\u2019s like. I think it\u2019s trying to learn that you literally can\u2019t please everyone \u2013 I don\u2019t like everyone so I can\u2019t expect everyone to like me. I\u2019ve got opinions, not that I\u2019d go online and say them\u2026”<\/p>\n
