The final book in Brynne Weaver<\/strong>\u2019s mega popular Ruinous Love<\/em> trilogy is out now, but the author hasn\u2019t ruled out the possibility of revisiting the world of the Kane brothers in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never say no to anything,\u201d Weaver exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> ahead of the Tuesday, February 11, release of Scythe & Sparrow<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIn some cases I think their stories are wrapped up, but in others I could see a spinoff novella or something like that. I definitely left the door open to exploring that in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scythe & Sparrow<\/em> wraps up the dark romance trilogy that began with 2023\u2019s Butcher & Blackbird<\/em> and last year\u2019s Leather & Lark<\/em>. The novel\u2019s main characters, Fionn Kane and Rose Evans, made cameo appearances in the first two books, but Scythe & Sparrow<\/em> finally reveals how they met \u2014 and gives readers a deeper understanding of what helped mold the Kane brothers.<\/p>\n

Like the first two Ruinous Love<\/em> books, Scythe & Sparrow<\/em> features plenty of murder, but the difference here is that Rose is not exactly a criminal mastermind on par with her counterparts Sloane and Lark.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like when I was writing the first book that she was a little bit chaotic, and I thought it would be a fun, different kind of take on this serial killer theme that I was doing if she just wasn\u2019t very good at it,\u201d Weaver told Us<\/em> of Rose. \u201cShe really tries hard, she puts her whole self into it. It just doesn\u2019t always pan out the way that she hoped.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fionn, meanwhile, isn\u2019t quite as hypermasculine as his siblings, Rowan and Lachlan \u2014 he works out a lot, but he\u2019s also part of a crocheting club.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith his two older brothers, they\u2019ve played a significant role in really getting him to have this sort of perfect life,\u201d Weaver explained. \u201cHe\u2019s tried really hard to exceed expectations. He\u2019s also brokenhearted, so he\u2019s run away to Nebraska. He\u2019s kind of been hiding a little bit. So I wanted to give him the chance to really come out of his shell, and Rose was the perfect opportunity to have that happen for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Rose and Fionn aren\u2019t quite as adept at hiding the (not metaphorical) bodies as other Ruinous Love<\/em> characters, they\u2019re not lacking in the chemistry department \u2014 and the book boasts plenty of those steamy scenes that Weaver\u2019s fans have come to expect. Some authors find it difficult to choreograph those moments on the page or plot out elaborate fights, but Weaver\u2019s biggest challenges lie elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are always my two favorite things to write,\u201d the author said of scenes involving sex or violence. \u201cSometimes it\u2019s more of the interconnection between those scenes where you\u2019re exploring the more heavy emotional topics, and I want to get those right. So, it takes a lot more thinking time to process those chapters, but the murder scenes and the spicy scenes are, like, no problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

As fans finally get their hands on Scythe & Sparrow<\/em>, Weaver is looking forward to the next chapter in her writing career \u2014 she\u2019s already handed in the manuscript for the first book in a new series and is currently hard at work on the second. She can\u2019t share any further details, but hinted that eagle-eyed Scythe & Sparrow<\/em> readers might find a clue about what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCelebrities are just like Us, and they read faerie smut, too. Former football player JJ Watt nearly broke the internet when he revealed he was reading Sarah J. Maas\u2019 steamy romantasy series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, which has taken the internet (specifically BookTok) and the fantasy genre by storm. First published in 2015, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t really give too much away, but there is maybe a little bit of a window into what might be coming at the end of this book,\u201d she teased. \u201cSo it is another dark rom-com series but also a bit more thriller-y.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also participating in the development of Butcher & Blackbird<\/em> for the big screen. No casting announcements have been made, but Weaver is feeling good about where things are going.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes you\u2019re having these conversations with producers or in this case the director as well and thinking like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m talking to this director\u2019 \u2014 that\u2019s a little bit wild to get your head around at first,\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s rolling along pretty quickly. We have a screenwriter now and she\u2019s already been working on the script. We\u2019ve got a few people in play, not actors yet, but a few other key people who are starting to get involved now, and I\u2019ve been really brought into all the steps of the process which has been wonderful. I really want to see where they take it and how they interpret it, but I\u2019m getting to have my say as well, so for me it\u2019s a perfect balance.\u201d<\/p>\n
