Amazon is the latest tech company to remove references to \u201cinclusion and diversity\u201d from its\u00a010-K report<\/a>.\u00a0The filing has removed reference to diversity and inclusion as it pertains to the workplace.<\/p>\n In its 2023 10-K form<\/a>, the company had a sentence that read, \u201cAs we strive to be Earth\u2019s best employer, we focus on investment and innovation, inclusion and diversity, safety, and engagement to hire and develop the best talent.\u201d In its 2024 10-K<\/a>, that sentence was greatly reduced to simply read, \u201cWe strive to be Earth\u2019s best employer.\u201d The only reference to \u201cdiversity,\u201d was in regard to product categories and matters related to \u201cinclusion\u201d concerned stock awards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment but pointed to its website page that continues <\/a>to say Amazon is \u201ccommitted to creating a diverse and inclusive company.\u201d <\/p>\n TechCrunch reported that Google also removed mention<\/a> of diversity in its latest 10-K filing, compared to its 2023 form. Amazon recently announced it would curb <\/a>some of its DEI programs, following in the footsteps of Meta<\/a> and now also Google<\/a>. Amazon told employees it would review its initiatives and wind down some programs. DEI has come under fierce scrutiny this past year, as conservative groups have sought to sue companies with DEI programs.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n The Trump administration is also not a fan of DEI and has banned it <\/a>from the federal government; U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi also instructed <\/a>the Department of Justice this week to \u201cinvestigate, eliminate, and penalize illegal DEI\u201d programs and activities in the private sector companies that receive federal funds.\u00a0<\/p>\n
