{"id":148672,"date":"2025-02-06T14:01:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-06T14:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/06\/angelina-jolie-remembers-her-mother-almost-20-years-after-her-death\/"},"modified":"2025-02-06T14:01:34","modified_gmt":"2025-02-06T14:01:34","slug":"angelina-jolie-remembers-her-mother-almost-20-years-after-her-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/06\/angelina-jolie-remembers-her-mother-almost-20-years-after-her-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Angelina Jolie remembers her mother almost 20 years after her death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"byline\">\n<p>        <time itemprop=\"datePublished\" content=\"2025-02-06\" datetime=\"1738850494\" pubdate=\"\">6 February 2025<\/time>\n    <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/angelina-jolie\/\" class=\"exposure-link \" data-linktrack=\"LinkTracker,articleExposure,angelina-jolie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Angelina Jolie<\/a> has recalled how her mother &#8220;embraced&#8221; a life of stardom through her. <\/p>\n<p>                            <\/p>\n<p class=\"image-caption landscape\">Angelina Jolie has recalled how her mother &#8217;embraced&#8217; a life of stardom through her.<\/p>\n<p>The 49-year-old actress remembered how her mother Marcheline Bertrand &#8211; who was a Hollywood star herself but died in 2007 at the age of 56 following a battle with cancer &#8211; lived vicariously through her prior to her passing. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking after being presented with the Maltin Modern Master Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Wednesday (05.02.25) and said: &#8220;I think of my mother \u2026 she had to give up her dreams of a creative life but she embraced that side of mine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Tomb Raider&#8217; star also revealed that her mother would write her letters to her adressed o the character she was playing at the time.<\/p>\n<p>She added: &#8220;Dear Gia,\u2019 \u2018Dear Lisa Rowe,\u2019 \u2018Dear Lara Croft\u2019 \u2014 and for the last 16 years, I haven\u2019t had those letters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nThe actress has njoyed a star turn of late with her portrayal of Maria Callas in the biopic about the legendary opera star, and noted after taking on such a part that she would be &#8220;nothing&#8221; without the love of her own mother. <\/p>\n<p>\nShe said: &#8220;I try to imagine sometimes what she would write, and she would probably have told Maria that she loved her because Maria had many things but she never had a mother\u2019s love.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;I would be absolutely nothing without mine.
