Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a> and Prince Harry<\/strong> were recently \u201cdevastated\u201d by the California fires that have taken the homes and businesses of thousands, but she\u2019s helping out where she can<\/a>. The former Suits<\/em> star recently helped a teenage girl replace a beloved item she had lost in the flames.<\/p>\n \u201cAbout two or three weeks ago, when my husband and I were in Altadena, we went to a community where all the homes were left in ashes,\u201d Meghan, 43, said in a video she shared to Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, February 4.<\/p>\n The Duchess of Sussex went on to say that she spoke with a woman in the area who told her how her 15-year-old daughter had lost something special to her in the fire.<\/p>\n Meghan continued, \u201cWhen they came back to their house for the first time, which was as we were meeting them, all that [her daughter] had been looking for in her home was the T-shirt from the Billie Eilish<\/strong><\/a> concert that she had just gone to that she\u2019d left in the washing machine or the dryer.\u201d<\/p>\n The washing machine and dryer had been destroyed in the blaze, so Meghan took it as an opportunity to help.<\/p>\n \u201cI said, \u2018Well, I don\u2019t know Billie Eilish, but I\u2019m going to figure out how to get you this shirt,\u2019\u201d the \u201cTig\u201d founder explained.<\/p>\n Meghan explained that she made a \u201cvoice note\u201d and reached out to several people, including singer Adam Levine<\/strong> and his wife, Behati Prinsloo<\/strong>, and asked if they could get the message to the \u201cBirds of a Feather\u201d singer, 23. The mom of two\u2019s message was somehow successfully delivered, and Billie responded in a huge way. Meghan showed viewers the items included in the package,which ranged from a lunchbox to an autographed album to what looked like apparel.<\/p>\n \u201cHuge thank you to Billie Eilish,\u201d Meghan gushed. \u201cThis is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line and to everyone who\u2019s showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what\u2019s happened in California, just thank you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n Meghan also thanked first responders in the caption and wrote, \u201cLet\u2019s keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires. Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the community\u2019s real heroes. As ever, Meghan.\u201d<\/p>\n The California wildfires ravaged areas of the Golden State in January, and a source exclusively told In Touch<\/em> that Meghan and Harry, 40, had offered up their home and resources<\/a> to residents affected.<\/p>\n \u201cThey could have easily left town, but they actually drove two hours towards the fire to help out at the World Central Kitchen,\u201d the insider said on January 30. \u201cThey served meals to people that have been evacuated, they spoke with people and tried to offer some solace.\u201d<\/p>\n The couple also encouraged their friends to help, as well, in a statement on their website.<\/p>\n \u201cIf a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do,\u201d the statement read. \u201cAnd be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
