Hagi also thinks Gascon’s nomination should be revoked. “The same way they\u2019re calling her film \u201cimportant\u201d or whatever vague terms are used. It\u2019s just as important to show this is an example of what shouldn\u2019t fly on a global stage. What message is that sending? Are you going to tout a movie around as being \u201cimportant\u201d and \u201chistorical\u201d and then have the star of it say the vilest and racist things? This isn\u2019t controversial; it\u2019s blatant racism. You can\u2019t have it both ways. You can\u2019t have your \u201crepresentation pick\u201d show how progressive an institution is and then have no consequences for a person who is the opposite of that,” she said.<\/p>\n
